I'm not sure where to post this, but this forum seemed the most logical.
Without going into a long story, my blood pressure, which until a few months ago was normal (110/70), has now suddenly risen to 140/80+. I was fine aside from chronic back pain until last November. Since then I had a huge hiatal hernia repaired, and a series of other strange issues.
When my surgeon released me to exercise, I went back at it full bore and have been working out every day for the past 5 weeks. I watch what I eat (which isn't much due to the surgery), and don't drink coffee or take in much caffeine from other sources. Anyone out there have a similar experience with a sudden unexplained rise in blood pressure? My doc saw the increase in BP & wanted to put me on BP meds, but I talked him into waiting because I'm working out and thought it should come down from exercise. The problem is that my BP is still high and I have no idea why. I really don't want to go on medication unless I know what the root of the problem is.
In addition, in the past 2 weeks, my lower legs have been swelling after my work outs, which has never happened before.
I'm exhausted all the time and beginning to think my body's starting to fall apart.
