Left-side Pain - Finally went to the ER

Well, Friday I experienced some pain that was worse than it had been in a few weeks...It started at work ..but, then left - by 7pm while sitting on my couch the pain got worse...on my left and it hurt when I took a breath as well, it was severe enough to scare me into going- we went, my BP was high ( but i think I was really scared ! ) they did an EKG first , then took blood, and then xrays...everything looked good -
The ER doc ordered a stress test for me next week....but, ofcourse now i feel fine...i had some pain again...but very slight...What I felt Friday nite was bad , I just dont know - kinda feel like a fool - and am afraid my insurance who is only active since August 1st is going to question this - do they do that ?

OFCOURSE I want it to all be negative and I am glad I went - just wish i knew for sure !!

Thanks for listening and being there each time I have complained !

How very scary for you!!  I'm very glad that you went into the ER - That was the best thing you could have done!

The stress test will help to rule out any blockages, though they still may want to either run more tests, or watch you.

I'm not a Dr., and everyone is certainly different, but I've never had a problem with pain when I was breathing in with angina - though I did have that with my GERD (acid reflux) and heartburn one night - woke me out of a dead sleep.  The pain is so very similar to angina - I really thought I was having another heart attack and I went into the ER, too.  So if they rule out angina and heart problems, this may also give you something else to check into.

I really can't answer your insurance question, but I would suspect being the type of pain it was and the possibility that it could have been your heart...they shouldn't question it too much.

I think you did right going to ER.  I had a funny spell a couple of weeks ago, chest pain in my heart area, very weak feeling, blurred vision and I didn't go to ER.  I wish I would've gone tho and I definately will go if it happens again.  The chest pain lingered for about a week so I finally went to my cardio who, of course, set up an appointment for me to have the stress test.  The pain is gone now and has been for awhile and I feel like the stress test is kinda useless now.  But if I had gone to the ER when this was happening they may have been able to see what was going on.  I'm like you, I'm so afraid of going to ER and feeling foolish if they don't find anything wrong but I've been working on knowing its ok to take this precaution.  Better to feel foolish than to be dead right!!!  yeah When is your stress test?  Mine is Friday.  I really dread it because I have breathing problems.  Hugs, Pat  PS:  We are told not to ignore chest pains so I doubt if you have any problem with your insurance paying.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having these type of problems now!  I really hope that the stress test turns out okay for you!!
