Questions regarding echo

5 weeks ago i had what they are calling stress induced cardiomyopathy while on the operating table for surgery on my broken foot. My doctor said it was a heart attack and he thinks it was caused by stress. He told me if it would have happened at home i would be dead right now. I am only 47, non smoker, non drinker, a bit overweight but not obese. I am very confused reading my echo report. It says LVEDP is 32mm hg, moderate mitral regurgitation, moderately reduced right ventricular systolic function, moderately reduced left ventricular systolic function with regional variability.
I do not go back to see the cardiologist for another 3 weeks and was told very little in hospital. They put me on blood pressure meds and said i will find out more at my cardiologist appointment. Can anyone give me insight as to what all the wording on the echo means?
I am extremely tired and cannot lay on my left side still, it feels like I can hardly breathe. I guess my biggest question is am i going to have long term effects because of this? Any insight?

Hello & welcome to the forum. I see the dr put you on a blood pressure medication, be sure to stay on it & take it as directed. My cardiologist advised I take mine at the same time every morning too. If this were a life threatening situation you would not have been released from the hospital without a complete workup. So, please try to breath a little easier until you see the cardiologist.

Regurg is usually not a problem unless it shows to be severe on the testing. I was in my early 30's when mine was diagnosed. I am almost 64 & I am monitored yearly with testing. Did it change my lifestyle, absolutely not, dr says carry on as usual. Your BP meds can also make you feel fatigued at first. Any time they change mine or increase it, I have some trouble until I get used to the medication.

A year ago two of mine were doubled & it took me almost 2 months to get use to the change. I even asked my dr to lower one & he said absolutely no, because my BP was at its lowest for me. High blood pressure is hard on the valves.
