side effect from med

Doctor put me on this med called Isosorb mono er 60 mg and i took my first pill tonight and it has gave me a massive headache . I took it around noon today and just had a mild one at first but i took a nap and boy did i wake up to a massive one . Also my back on both sides at the bottom hurts . Can anyone tell me how long this pill will take to get out of my system . Remind you i have only took 1 and tomorrow i will be calling the doctor to get it changed or stopped cause i cant deal with this type of side effect . It hurts typing this .

This medication is to treat angina. The medication opens up blood vessels to help the blood flow easier so the heart does not have to work too hard. A common side effect is a headache they say should go away in time. But, from what you are describing your headaches are not tolerable. Back pain is a rare side effect. Also, you were started on what appears to be a pretty high dose. What was the reason for such a high dose just starting out. The usual dosing is 20mg in the morning & 20mg in the evening. If a higher dose is needed it could be tweaked.

However, there are many different medications used to treat angina that should not give you such severe side effects. Take care.
