PVC's?

My palps were diagnosed as PVC's last Friday. My doctor said that they are harmless, since my echo came back showing no problems with the structure of my heart. She had me wear a 24-hour holter monitor this weekend, and I had a lot of palps, which is good so she will be able to see them. What will this test show her? Will is just confirm that they are PVC's, or could it show something else? They also took blood to test for anemia and/or thyroid problems. I'm still waiting for results.

If you have PVC's, what do you use to help control them? They still scare me, even though I was told they are harmless.

Hi fritz! My arrythmia problem was SVT, rapid heartbeat, and I had an ablation procedure which was a success, but during the heart healing from that procedure I had PVC's. Although I haven't had them for quite some time now and don't have a lot of experience with them I can try to share with you what I do know. They do the monitor to try to see if there are any other heart arrytmias or just the PVC's and also to get an idea of how frequent you are having them. It sounds like they have already determined that they are benign which is good. One of the "triggers" for any arrythmia is anxiety and stress and during the time that I was having the PVC's I did things to try to keep myself calm...even tho the 1st time scared me to death! My doc checked me and also told me they were benign so that helped me to keep from getting so scared when they happened after that. I also just did things to help me stay calm during the episodes...deep breathing, just getting up and finding something to busy myself with, things like that and this helped alot. They sometimes prescribe a medicine that can help control the PVC's depending on how often and how long you are having the episodes. Another thing that helped me with the PVC's and SVT is trying to learn as much as I could about them which in turn helped me not get so scared when they happened. With a strong heart like your doctor said you have, these aren't life threatening so that was a comfort because my heart tested out to be strong also. No matter what they will be annoying but we can do these things and they will help. Hugs, Pat
