... and im really not happy with my internist.
The whole reason I pay to see him is so I do not end up having to join a cardiovascular disease forum.

Let me ask the group..
Why do doctors check our blood pressure, and why do they keep track of our blood cholesterol levels?
I think its so they can make an educated guess as to how clogged up and calcified your arteries are.
Well, in 2018, it turns out they have these tests where you dont have to guess about what you are afraid of, YOU CAN ACTUALLY MEASURE IT..... FOR $75 !!!

The dude never checked me.
Until, by accident, and another reason, I had to have a scan. And the reporting doc noticed my calcium build up.
Now I have little calcium rocks all in me.
Would have been nice to have been getting these scans for the last 10 years.
Me having this problem was totally avoidable. Its a shame.

Exactly my reaction 13 months ago. Good cholesterol levels,ok treated blood pressure.Asked about a calcium score about 5 years ago,my Dr said "why? All your risk's are ok" He also didn't really know what it was.1 year ago I got my own and find out I'm at 99.9 percentile for my 52 yrs. Not really happy with the system.

Sorry to hear this guys. Stock standard risk factors clear they not bother with further testing. I got clogged...nstemi and a double bypass. It's after surgery I found expert help. I am in Australia... excellent care... but trial and error on finding the right doc.

The guidelines for Coronary Artery Calcium CT scans have not been clear in the past. Most were done to clarify risk in patients considered intermediate risk for coronary artery disease. I am age 70 and had the CAC scan three months ago. My score places my in the 95% high-risk category. Now I take a high-dose statin and a daily aspirin. I paid $98 out of pocket for the CT scan.
