Cenedra,
A couple of quick questions about when you passed out: Have you ever done that before-even back when you were a child?
It sounds like you were in the bathroom at the time. Had you or your husband just come out of the shower or even a really warm bath? Was the bathroom warm/hot and steamy, really humid-like?
That can cause a fainting episode. I know because that happened to my daughter last October. She had just come out of a hot shower with the bathroom door closed. I had opened it up to ask her a question and she went down. I mean it was fast-no floating down or slow motion anything. It was BOOM-down. She was out for several minutes and wasn't coherent for a few minutes after that. She could not move when she finallly started being able to hear and respond to me. It was VERY frightening. I called EMS They came over and had to pick her up and carry her to the bed because she said she could not move. The checked her out and said she was fine now. Her pediatricain insisted we take her to a children's ER. They did many tests both in the hospital and then a couple of specialist we had to go see. However nothing was found to be wrong.Everyone agrees it most likely was from the hot, steamy shower. ????
Interesting to note: I have never had problems with passing out but her dad did several times as a child and her paternal grandmother had a history of it in her 20's-30's. She doesn't do that anymore. ????
She does have to see a pediatric cardiologist yearly right now to check out a possible condition which the EKG indicated she might have. However an echocardiogram is done to rule the condition in or out. Last year it was out for sure. We go back in October to make sure that nothing is developing but I am truly not worried because she is a VERY ACTIVE, sports-minded child who has NO problems on the field or rink or anywhere else even though she also has asthma. We have a wonderful pulminologist who has her well controlled. She lives a very normal, active, healthy life. I thank GOD!
So it is possible to pass out but not have it related to your heart. I think maybe it has to do with the vagal nerve. ???Don't know.
What's your usual resting heartbeat? Does it run high? Does it start racing when you move around? Are you physically active most days? If not, your heart might be a bit deconditioned. ?? Did the docs do a stress test to see how your heart responded? How was it? Maybe you could ask about one if they haven't done one. ??? I hope you start feeling better soon. God Bless.
