Hi
Im a 34 year old female (approx. 5'1'') who was just diagnosed with quite a few digestive issues. It all started when I started losing weight. I was only about 115 lbs to begin with and lost about 20 of those within 2 months. I was having difficulty finishing a full meal, I would get nauseaus halfway through my meal, but wouldnt get sick. My doctor referred me to get an ultrasound of my digestive area. The ultrasound came back that I have gallstones so I was sent to a gastro dr. He wanted to do an upper endoscopy which came back that I had GERD and Barretts esophagus. Talk about a total shock. I had no idea what GERD was, never felt anything. Never had heartburn or anything. So, my dr basically thinks I have silent GERD. I was prescribed medication, but I dont know if its working, since I dont have any of the normal symptoms. My dr. is also a little perplexed with me having all of this. No one in my family has any of the above. He also told me most people who have gallstones or Barretts are overweight, while I am the opposite. Being told I am not the normal patient. So, from what Im told I will have to have an upper endoscopy every year to monitor. Its been 3 months and I am now pregnant. I am noticing that I am now getting symptoms of the GERD, but cannot continue the medication because of the pregnancy. Can anyone who has these tell me what to expect. Especially if anyone has been pregnant with these as well. Thanks !!
