can gerd cause gastritis

hi i think i have gastritis, i feel like my tummy burns after eating anything warmish like evening meal, and if i eat something cold like yoghurt straight out of the fridge then i feel the extreme cold burining senstaion al the way down into my tummy, i also have neasea but then i get neasea with gerd as well,  i have been off PPI for a week as have to get 24 hr reflux probe test.............is this gastritis or infalamtion from gerd, can gerd cause gastritis????

Good morning, I am just stopping by to say hello and welcome.  I am not absolutely sure that GERD can cause Gastritis adn you can have gastritis without GERD. 

I have GERD but have never been diagnosised with gastritis.

Hi Beemer, I have GERD and I have also been diagnosed with gastritis. The gastritis could be from the Plavix I take for my heart. If I eat any thing that I shouldn't for the GERD (acidic food, chocolate, caffiene) it makes my gastritis really act up. I get bloating, terrible pain and gas but none of the things you mentioned. It gets really bad at night. I have an extremly touchy stomach. There are alot of medications that my stomach can't handle too for the same reason. When I have scopes done my doctor takes a biopsy and it shows gastritis every time since 2005 for me. The last time they did it they said it was mild at that time so depending on what one eats or takes it can be worse at times. Hope this helps you out. Barb

thanks for your reply.im not sure if i have classic gastritis symptoms or just a little infalation from acid reflux........wow yo do have a lot going on, i to have other stuff such as pelvic floor dysfunction and chronic vertigo balance issues, im37 and feel like a 100 some days, my paernts in there 70's are ten times more healhty than me lol, and my dad has smoked since he was a teenager, go figure!!!!!

anyway thanks hope you get beter soon, have you considered homeopathic treatment!!! it has been amazing for me and im currently seeing a homepathic to help with my tummy stuff

Oh my goodness the vertigo must be an awful thing to have. I had problems with being dizzy when they had me taking blood pressure meds after my heart stent and that was awful. I am taking a bunch of natural stuff for my heart which has worked well for me. Myheart docs exact words on August 5th were "Your stent and arteries are pristine" so I'll stick with the natural stuff over the statins that make me very sick with my tummy. My uncle suggested extra calcium and magnesium for my GERD in the am and before bed. It helped a little. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. At this point I am willing to try anything. I work at a senior center and alot of the seniors are way healthier than I am so I know what you mean there. I can relate to the ones that do have health problems. Barb
