I have GERD and an ulcer, and burp a lot.  I burp when I eat and also when I drink water.  I have been on Prevacid for about 15 days.  I havn't had any heartburn or pain anywhere.  I watch my diet very carefully.  VERY!  I do wonder about all the burping. Eveb after a night's sleep, I wake up and burp.  Help Please, as I am so curious about this.

You may have an esohpageal motility problem.  Your LES may be staying open too long after you swallow allowing too much air into your stomach.  That is what I have, I burp all the time, even when I swallow saliva.  It's quite annoying.  Do you burp shortly after you swallow?  I would have a manometry test done to see if you have a motility problem.

Thanks Gabby for the reply.  :-) I haven't seen my doc since my endoscopy yet.  I will mention this to her and see what she thinks.  I didn't have this happening before the endoscopy.  I was wondering if it was from my medcine.  I am on Prevacid.

Mary,

     Yes talk to your GI about it.  It's strange you only got the symptoms after your endoscopy...I don't think PPI meds would be causing that.  Let us know how it goes.
