Non-Digestion? Anyone else

I've been dealing with GERD (apparently) for a few years now. Take a Generic zantac for it. I've been noticing over the last several months that periodically it seems that my entire digestive system seems to decide to shut down. Basically, everything is staying in my stomach. And not leaving. Depending on how much I'm eating, either a few or several hours after my first food intake, my stomach is bloated and physically distended, I've got bad heartburn that nothing can touch (meds/tums) and nothing seems to help. Except vomiting. If I do that, I see the remnants of what I ate up to/over 12 hours ago still there in solid pieces.

This doesn't happen often, it's happened maybe a half-dozen times in the past several months, but seems to be occurring more often now. When I see it coming, I try to stop taking anything in, but of course that isn't easy. Even water just adds to the volume.

I suspected that it might just be the antacid causing it, but taking that away was just brutally painful with the heartburn.

I'd appreciate any advice on this.

It sounds like you stomach isn't emptying properly. I think you should go and see your doctor and also do some research on gastroparesis. Good luck.

To me it seems like the antacids are doing what they are supposed to do. Get rid of all the acid. No acid, no digestion.
I would highly recommend you try some of the alternative remedies. Seriously I was in pretty bad shape about a year ago. The best thing for me was to take digestive enzymes. For some reason i haven't figured out I just don't produce enough digestive enzymes. Over time i just started feeling better.... very slowly though... but better. I can now eat whatever I want except dairy, which doesn't bother me. As long as i feel better its a very small sacrifice.
