Hello,
my name is Nyco, a 29years old girl, from Italy. Sorry for my "school English". I found this interesting forum and I want to ask some questions and send information on the situation in Italy. The best, the gold standard, was and is the fundoplicatio nissen. Or, here in Italy, there was a little interest for Esophyx procedure (almost abandoned) and some other procedures such as endoscopic Plicator.
Could you tell me if after the fundoplicatio is possible to practice the sport, professional sport? Do you have news on the new procedure Plicator? It is practiced in Italy at the Gemelli hospital in Rome. This Plicator procedure is much easier Esophyx, better results if compared to Esophyx.
I met all the best Italian doctors, endoscopic procedures are unknown. They are used for too little time and too few patients. I ask you who have performed the fundoplicatio: You can practice sports?
you feel healed, normal people or people without reflux, but with physical limitations?

I had a Nissen Fundo. a little over 2 1/2 years ago and play softball all summer. I am a youth travel team coach also. Once things are healed up I don't see any reason not to be able to.

I have never had the procedure so I have no input into your questions but many on the site have had the surgery so I am sure you will be hearing from more.

I had a consult with a dr who does Plicator and I'm very interested. I was going to get it done but DH got laid off work, then we lost our insurance, we moved to another state, got pregnant, etc, etc. Now 3 yrs later I'm still interested in getting the Plicator done. If you're reflux is moderate to severe and you want to have a better life I say go for it after giving it a lot of thought (and prayers). I think it will be great if you can talk to other people who had the Plicator procedure done.
