kevinla,
I saw your same question on the other board of which you are a member. :) You may want to look up info re mucosal epithelium. The mucosal epithelium lines the entire length of the GI tract. Sometimes knowing how the digestive tract works will help you understand better what is happening with you.
Another topic you may want to read up on would be the salivary glands. The salivary glands are the small glands responsible for the production of saliva, a highly important link in the digestive chain. They are considered to be accessory digestive glands.
Also I would recommend you talk with your GI physician if you have medical concerns re your question.
I hope you find the info you are seeking.
Take care,
Kitt
