Breathing trouble two months after Nissen

Hello everyone,

I have not posted lately.  I was out of town to visit my son and his family.  I felt pretty good there.  The last few days I have been having issues with breathing, shortness of breath and phlegm.  I am guessing my Nissen did not fix my problem.  I know it probably helped somewhere I can not see.  I am getting really frustrated.  I feel I am not being properly diagnose.  I am going to a Pulmonologist on Monday, and a Holistis Dr. ( Chiropractor) in June.  The Holistic Dr. is supposed to work miracles.  He is rated well on Rate you MD.  Keep me in your prayers.  I need some relief.  I am thankful I am not worse off, but just want to feel normal again.  This has been going on for two years.  My next resort is to go to the Cleveland Clinic.  If anyone has dealt with a similiar situation let me know.

I've missed talking to you! I hope you had a fun time with your son. It's nice that you could get away. Were you in school this week? I'm so sorry to hear that you're still having persistent lung problems. Believe me, I understand your frustration. I was nebulizing twice a day for over a year. I'm so glad you're going to see the pulmonologist.

Hopefully, in the long run, the Nissen helps your lungs. It sounded as if your doctors felt your GERD was a significant contributing factor to your lung problems. Now that they can't blame your lung issues on your GERD, hopefully they'll be able to figure out what's going on. That's what I thought...rule out the GERD, then the docs won't have that to rely on as a diagnosis. You're narrowing it down.

I'll be interested in hearing what the pulmonologist says.

I am so happy to hear from you. I have been in school the last two weeks.
I will let you know what the Pulmonologist says. I picked up some hospital records today and the chest x-ray said something about atelectasis. My understanding is you get this from shallow breathing. It worries me that the surgeon never brought this to my attention. Hopefully this will all get resolved at some point.
How are you feeling? It sounds like your ashma is better. I am happy for you. I was hoping I would see improvement. I get to feeling a bit better for a few weeks, and then I feel like I move back to square one. I keep praying though, its got to help.

Hi Wendi,
FINALLY you're going to the the pulmonologist. It's hard to wait, when you're having problems! It's hard to believe that they make people with chronic problems wait so long.

Yes, my lungs have improved. After the lung infection finally cleared, I got flu, then bronchitis, and another lung infection. Barb, on this forum, who has the same type of reactive stomach as I do, let me know that she can tolerate Z-Pac, so my doctor tried that, and it didn't bother my stomach.

That cleared up my lungs (finally), and now they feel great. (Keep in mind that I still have allergies, so I'm getting some cough and mucous, but my lungs feel NORMAL now.) So in my case, the GERD was the main cause the uncontrolled asthma. Of course, I'll still have asthma symptoms from allergies, but that I can handle.

I hope that your pulmonologist can get to the bottom of your problems and get you cleared up.
