wasteofpaint - first I have to say love your screen name, it makes me giggle cause I love painting and I do waste my fair share...LOL
I had my Nissen redo in Jan. of this year and these are a few of the things that were able to go down easily. Carnation instant breakfast drink (strawberry or vanilla cause chocolate can cause more gas ) was the first thing I basically lived off of until I was until to move forward with my diet. Then I did a lot of Quaker fruit oatmeal things. Those little packets are easy to make and fill you up for several hours. I gradually moved onto soft scrambled eggs and put cheese in it when cooked. Man I don't care for eggs much but when I got that first bite of something that was real food like I thought I was in heaven... LOL
Mashed taters was then the next huge thing I did but with gravy so it made it go down smoothly and gave me the taste of chicken or beef or what ever. They were very satisfying for along time to me. I never tried baby food just because, well yuck.... LOL
Bread was my nemesis for months and I still have it get stuck from time to time. If later down the road you need to have something bread do yourself a favor and toast it. For some reason it helps, I don't know why and that of course was my experience.
Following on Bea's post keep the pain meds handy and the anti nausea. Get yourself some children's liquid Advil if you can do ibuprofen then you don't have to worry about the smashing and gagging on pills if that's an issue for you. Oh yes and by all means the Gas x, Phayzme, Beano what ever for the gas and bloating. Good Lord that is to be in your pocket at all times ... LOL
HUMMM , I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Like Lipton chicken noodle soup. I always got that from mom when I was sick and I have passed that along to my kids and everyone else. It is the best darn soup with those teeny tiny little noodles and the best broth to help with what ails ya.
Hope that That was of some help and gave you some new ideas. Wishing you the best of luck, Teala
P.S. I have a urge to go fix soup and gravy taters now ; )
