i have been using boniva last 2 years and i have gone from a perfectly healthy body to a sick miserable gerd person. be aware of the side effects of boniva. it has compleletly changed my life. i wish i did not take boniva. boniva causes ur les to becme looe and u develop all the headaches and problems associated with this disease. . any one else with this same experience . plz let me know

Hello and welcome to HealingWell and the GERD/Heartburn forum.

Boniva is an oral drug that is used for treating osteoporosis. As one of the "bone building" drugs that are supposed to "reverse the effects of osteoporosis", Boniva can cause serious heartburn. This should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It seems like so many medications have nasty side effects however each person reacts differently to the medications.

I agree with Kitt. You should see your doctor because he should be able to help you to control your Gerd.

Prilosec-20mg. once per day for GERD
Paxil-20mg. once per day for Depression
