Hi Everyone...

Well, I was supposed to see my surgeon this afternoon to go over my BRAVO test results that I had a week and a half ago. Well, her nurse called this morning and said not to come in this afternoon, that she was cancelling my surgery on 7/6 and referring me to yet ANOTHER GI Dr...

After crying for about an hour and a half this morning at work (I now have a lovely headache from crying), I want a second opinion (other than what the surgeon suggests). I am not happy with the way my surgeon has conveyed anything to me. This time all I got was that she was that she wanted me to go see a different GI dr. Nothing about what the BRAVO test meant or what she though may be going on. Actually, just got off the phone with the surgeons nurse(they called as I am writing this), and she told me she can not discuss my test results with me and I need to talk to the GI dr when I get my appointment. REALLY? I have a right to know... (yes, this is me being frustrated)

So here I am... again... no answers, just more questions. So i am just wondering if there is anyone in the Bay Area (I live in Fremont) that knows of a dr who you feel comfortable with. I am at my wits end and just hate not knowing whats going on.

Jodee, if you have another Dr. that you trust, family, ob-gyn, anybody, have them contact that (I hesitate to call her) Dr. and get a copy of the test results for you, see if they can find out what the heck happened too..
You have the right to a copy of the test results. Call them back and ask them to fax the results to you, if they give you garbage, tell them that you are coming over and to have a copy ready for you.. You do not deserve to be treated like this!

Thanks Janice... I have a call into my first GI dr and my regular GP to try and get everything I can. I actually got an appt for tomorrow morning with a dr my grandparents recommended, so I hope to have everything by tomorrow.

I just can not believe everything going on. My mom said my strength is being tested... for what? Who knows...

I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble finding a GI/Surgeon who will listen to you and provide you with the information you deserve. I'm with Janice--you have rights, and need to insist that you get the information you're looking for.

It's a good thing to find another doctor--you need one who respects you and values what you bring to your own medical decisions. We totally get your frustration. I actually had a GI doc that did not listen to me, and wouldn't accept the fact that I had certain symptoms. He would argue with me. I would tell him what I was experiencing, and he'd proceed to tell me that whatever it was, couldn't happen. I now have a GI doc who takes the time to listen to me, and respects my opinions.

You have every right to your test results and your complete record from any of your doctors. I would call them and demand a copy of your complete record and have it in hand when you see any other doctors. I hope you find someone who will help you.
