Hi blowe~
I have been on about different PPI's. and honestly its about finding what works for you. Trial and error. Not the answer you were hoping for I know. I am on aciphex as a part of the treatment for H. Pylori. PPI's did not work for me. And from what I learned in talking with my GI dr's and the ENT when being treated for LPR with a PPI, you need to have higher than usual doses. This because the acid and what not comes up so high (all the way to the throat level)
Because the PPI's did not work, when I am H.Pylori free, I will be on Zantac (rx not OTC because of the high dose) 150mg twice a day. Zantac is a H2 blocker, meaning, I believe(someone check me if I am wrong), that it will reduce the acid produced.
This has been a very long road for me. I have changed the way I eat... no spicy foods, I have reduced the amount of fried foods(Yes, on a rare occasion, I will indulge), things with a lot acid and caffeine
As far as being tested for H.Pylori... this is not a direct cause, just a result of the reflux. When they did my endoscopy in June they found it among other things wile doing a routine biopsy.
Let me know if I can help any more :)
