Hi Everyone,
Kinda bummed today... had a barium swallow done this morning and it turns out I now have an esophageal stricture! I had the same barium swallow done 11 months ago and all was normal!
Is the dilation a permanent cure for the stricture? Anyone have experiened with it?
We don't really know what caused the stricture, the doctor will do test the eosoniphiles (sp?) in my throat when he does the EGD.
The first GI I went to did a dilation for dysphagia, even though at the time there was no stricture in the esophagus...could that have actually caused this stricture?
Meanwhile, I wonder if my diffuse esophageal spasms (DES) are caused by the stricture? In other words, my E is working extra hard to get the food down?
Also, could the stricture, which is near the LES be Achalasia?
Cant' wait to talk to my doctor!!!
