Alcohol with GERD

Does anyone here drink alcohol and also take a PPI on a daily basis?

I'm going out with friends tonight and they're going to drink and I'm kinda questioning it for myself.

I am not sure if you mean daily alcohol and PPI or just occasional alcohol with daily use of PPI?

I will have a bit of alcohol with PPI but usually don't touch alcohol due to other meds I take. I know that is not a great answers. I am sure others will post.

i drink occasionally but it does make ur symptoms imensely worse, jsut dont go over board and ull be fine!

Thanks for the replies. I had 3 alcoholic beverages last night and it was actually a great night. I have another co-worker who has GERD as well and takes Nexium everyday, so, I was thinking if she can drink 3, why can't I? haha.

From everything I'm learning about GERD (I also have Barrett's esophagus) alcohol is one of the trigger foods and increases acid. I'm not sure about interaction with the PPI, but I wouldn't drink it because it would aggravate overall symptoms, plus, like Kitt, I take other medications. I used to enjoy a glass of wine now and then, but have stopped that. Also had to stop my night time chocolate habit! :-(

If I did decide to have a drink on a very special occasion, I would keep it to one. I think 3 might be pushing it. I'd ask your pharmacist about interaction with the meds.
