i can imagine Joe that you would give anything for this to stop, but like Alcie stated surgery is the last resort if nothing else works.
tests are very important to see if a surtane type of surgery is suited for you.
before i had surgery i was very sick Joe,undernuriched, underweight and in pain all day.
i did all the test that showed acid reflux, a small hiatial hernia and a weak LES.
they offerd me a nissen fundoplication in the first place but there was a long waiting list,so when someone dropped out for the Esophyx they offerd it to me and i went for it.
after the esophyx my situation got worse, the reflux episodes where longer and my gallblader was badly inflamed.
7 months later a nissen fundoplication and a gallblader removal was performed and my quality of life improved drasticly.
i still had some reflux but living with minor pain was acceptabel to me....for the first time in years i felt great.
i was off ppi`s for 18 months.
it only lasted 18 months, the nissen slipped or got loose and my symptomps are back now.
now i found out why the nissen never worked properly for me,the nissen was done on top of the esophyx.
before the nissen was performed they should have taken down the Esophyx to get a normal anatomy of the stomach again before the reconstruction.
i did lots of research before i had surgery and i was properly informed but do to the lack of data on the esophyx and a nissen after the esophyx this could happen to me.
now i am facing another surgery, first take down the two previous surgery`s and a redo of the nissen fundoplication....
i can only hope for the best....
