I have Gerd 5 months now. Prior to this I had it for about
5 years, I think it was caused by my weighlifting... although I was negative on helicob. pylori the doc gave me the triple therapy after one moonth pantoprazol therapy (with minor succes). The triple therapy was very good and afterwards I felt that I was healthy again. But it took some time to recover completly, to put behind the fear of sleeping with no eleveting pilow, or the fear of going back to the gym... after 3-4 months it was all behind me and I started with jogging, than later with weighlifting until october 2009 when it started all over again
Now, I can't lift weights beyond 10-15kg and I can't jogg neither. The simptoms afterwards are very interesting. I can lift weights, and don't have problems while I'm doing it.. even tomorow everything is still ok, but the next day it starts easy with waking up at 6am
, feeling bad the whole day and than it last for another 2 days. The same is with jogging, although the symptomes are lighter.
So, I wanted to share my personal expirience and some research that I found on the google when it comes to this problem... It seems that cycling is a good alternative for us gerd-doomed people
didn't tried it yet and can't wait to test it in spring time. Doctors say that vigorous exercises like running or jumping are not good for acid reflux. Cycling is a more stationery exercise.
They also say that drinking a lot of water prior and during the exercise has a preventing efect. Maybe mineral water (magnesium rich) is also a good alternative, who knows...
Suma sumarum, I think that sport activities are possible with this disease, although sport in a very easy and light manner...
