It's been a while since I have posted since I am trying my darnedest to get back to a normal (ish) life. So all the symptoms I had about 2 months ago are pretty much gone. I have lost about 15 pounds and have restructured my diet. This is where I am at now. I take 1 20 mg Aciphex two times a day and have been on it for a month and change. Here is the problems now, I haven't gotten into my GI to get scoped that is in May, I have seen the ENT about my constant nasal congestion and told me to netti pot and use a spray which I do and it works for about 15 minutes then I am clogged up again. I was wondering after doing some research if the aciphex could be causing me my discomfort now.

I have no problems breathing through my mouth but using my nose...well...its like a straw with a bunch of little holes.
I have a sore throat that was never there before.
I have this constant dull low grade headache usually right above my hair line (I have a full head of hair) and the span of your hand (like your blocking the sun out of your eyes with one hand)
I have this weird sensation in my head its like I am just not working 100%
My vision has changed, it's not blurry nor hazy, its like just a step behind...it almost feels like what my eyes see takes a minute to register.

None of these problems occured when I was on Omeprozole but the side effects of that on me were much worse. Has anyone else experienced any of these with Aciphex? Is it time to get a new PPI? When I get home from travel next week I am going to go see my Primary Care Physician.

I am so glad to see you are still with us and I am sorry you are having a rough time . I have never used Aciphex so I cannot give you any personal experience but I know others here in the forum use Aciphex.



I am sure you will be hearing from some of them shortly.

Yea I am still around. I am starting to get kinda depressed because I have felt bad pretty much every day since the on set. I would love something to clear up or the doctors to stop giving me I don't know maybe it's in your head kind of answers. The only person that believes me is my PCP because we have a long history together and she knows I really don't like the doctors and I don't just make stuff up.

I used Aciphex with good resolution of my acid. It was as good as Nexium for me. Of course none of the acid reducers stops reflux. They just stop production of or neutralize acid. From my experience there are usually triggers for reflux.

Sounds like you may have sinus headache, maybe from infection. The symptoms you describe are what happens to me when that happens. I used to get lots more, but I did two things. 1. I get antibiotics (infrequently now) to cure the infection. 2. I saw an allergist who said I was having way too many sinus infections and tested for allergens. Some of my allergies are from foods. For some reason the allergies were causing me to get sinus infections.

I did two things to get rid of the allergies: 1. I started on shots for the usual stuff like mold and tree pollens. 2. I found out what my food allergies are by keeping a food journal. I mostly stopped my refluxing by not eating my trigger foods.

Today is halfway over and I feel so much better than I have in weeks. My reflux hasn't really caused much problems today (I am not saying it's cured) but my head isn't cloudy anymore, my nasal cavities I feel like have opened up and I have not had any headaches all day. With this little trial run, I think I am going to try asking to switch to Protonix or Nexium or something else.

I agree with Alcie, it does sound like allergies or sinus infection. I get plenty of them.
