New here!...Link between tonsil problems and acid reflux?

Hi, everyone.  I'm new to these boards.  Hoping someone here may be able to answer my question.  Could acid reflux be causing issues with my tonsils?  My tonsils stay red and irritated looking most of the time.  Some days it will feel as though one of my tonsils is swollen when I swallow and also hurts when I yawn.  Currently have white spots on one of my tonsils and well as holes on both sides what weren't there until the last couple months.  The tonsils issues have coincided with a bunch of GI issues that I've been having.  I've been battling abdominal tenderness as well as burping, and chest discomfort.  Also have a spot in my middle of my chest that feels irritated and burns on a regular basis.  Also wake up every morning with a white film covering my tounge.  When I went to the doctor the other day, I failed to mention my throat issues because I was nervous and forgot.  Was focused mainly on the stomach/chest issues I've been having.  So, I was wondering if you all think all these symptoms could be related?  Could acid reflux be causing the issues with my tonsils?  Or could it be something entirely different that would account for these issues?  Or maybe they are totally seperate?  Any insight would certainly be greatly appreciated.  I have an upper endosopy coming up soon.

Thanks, Kitt.  Gosh, this is so frustrating.  I wonder if they will still do the endoscopy this week if I call and tell them about my tonsils?  My guess is no, so I don't know what to do.  I've had a really bad day with my chest aching.  It started about an hour and half after I ate breakfast this morning and continued through much of the day.  If that is from acid irritating my esophagus, why aren't PPIs helping me?

It finally eased up this evening.  When I'm up moving around it seems to make it worse.  What would cause the spasms?  Would it be acid reflux related?  It's like an aching pain that's not severe but enough where it's hard to focus on much else.  Also have the one spot that tends to be a bit of a burning sensation.

Your vegus nerve is being irritated, that's what's causing the spasms.

The vegus nerve runs down the backside of your esophagus. When your esophagus is irritated the nerve becomes inflamed, causing all sorts of troubles.

Get an EKG to rule out heart troubles. The blood pressure issues is not GERD related.

Hi What's Wrong,
This is going to seem like a strange post, but I'll share it. I happened to mention my stomach problems to my principal. He responded that he had horrible stomach problems for years...had many tests, was on lots of meds, and that doctors even considered surgery.

Then he had his tonsils out. After his tonsils were removed, his stomach issues disappeared.
It sounds strange, and it's very ironic that you're connecting your GI problems and tonsils in your post.
Just thought you might be interested. He's happily healthy and having no GI symptoms, after years of struggling.

I don't know if your tonsil issue is anything like my principal's tonsil problems. Although his experience doesn't seems to make any sense to me, I am certain it did happen. He's not the type to make things up. Interesting, I think.

Yes, I'm sure that if you're getting lots of acid refluxing, it could irritate any part of your throat. I just thought you'd be interested in the tonsil story.

Just checked my blood pressure and it was 99/54. The bottom number has only been above 60 one time in the past 5-6 days. This has been a rough week and really has me down. I'm having so many issues right now and I'm very frustrated. Woke up with a bit of an earache but it didn't bother me all that much until I tried to eat lunch. When I would chew my food I was getting ear pain and even pain in my eye. Seems to feel better now as long as I don't eat. Yes, I'm completely falling apart and I'm still 4 years away from 30, haha! Today my chest and back have been aching quite a bit. I know this has something to do with my GI issues as I've done nothing to injure my back.

Hey What's Wrong. Search for Cryptic Tonsils. I've got them too, but I've never noticed a correlation to my stomach problems. Try pressing on or near the white spot (if it doesnt make you gag too badly) and generally it will force the buildup of dead cells and mucous that you are seing out of the crypt. Warning these white balls are very smelly...... and often the cause of bad breath.

A completely gross update but in case anyone is wondering I no longer have one of the white spots anymore.  The last 2 people who posted were right, it finally came out.  Been reading online and I guess it was a tonsil stone?  It came out when I accidentally gagged brushing my teeth this morning.  It was a kind of hard and very bad smelling ball that came out.  Know have a hole there in my tonsil.  Absolutely disgusting.  Is this something I need antibiotics for or do these things just happen and then go away?

Hi I've also been having the same issues i had n upper egd done turns out I have be item hernia and 63rd I have all the things your going threw want to an e.n.t ( eat miss throat ) told me it was from the here both gastro and e.n.t put me on omeprazol 1 a day started it 2 days ago seen a difference in my Silva I font have much but I still have a lot of burping and i don't know if it's me and my anxiety that kicks in but am going to see what happens 28th this mad I hate feeling like I mucus in my throat constantly clearing it and and burping so it don't feel congested
