I have been a big ball of gas here lately and off and on I have been having these pains in my chest that last a second or 2 they are painful and in between my boobs kind of at the top of my sternum a little to the left or right! Its been going on for a long while! They are starting to worry me! Could this be from acid reflux? I have heart burn some but not all the time! I thought you might be able to ease my mind till then! Burping releaves it for a while then it will shoot another pain after 40 min or so....Let me know what you think!! My doc says gas or reglux??? Does anyone else have this pain I am talking about cause I think my anxiety is making it worse!!! The doc says it is gas or reflux!! Can anyone relate to me please!!!!

Sounds like you might have both gas and reflux, rather than just one or the other. Do you think you swallow a lot of air when you eat? You could try eating more slowly and chewing your food very thoroughly to see if that reduces the amount of air you swallow.

If the gas is coming from the food you eat, you could keep a log of what you eat and try to figure out which foods you are reacting too.

To find out if you have reflux you should probably see a gastroenterologist. They can run tests to figure out if you have reflux or some other type of stomach problem.

It sounds like you're getting a little too worried about the pain and that's why you're having anxiety. A little heartburn pain and gas is not going to kill you, so try to relax while you figure out the problem.

I have been taking prilosec but I missed a pill yesterday and when burping had this acid like taste in my throat. I am going back to the doc today. These chest pains have got to stop before I get depressed!!

Costochondritis..This is what I was diagnosed with. I got a steroid shot and hope it works for this annoying pain!!! Has anyone ever had this before???

A friend of mine had it. It took almost a month for her to recover. I hope you heal faster.

Massage therapy yesterday really worked. She could feel that my sternum had jammed!!

Well I am very interested in this. I have the same pain (kind of between my boobs) moves around, sometimes when I push on it it really hurts, does not seem related to exercise or anything, but have noticed that I don't take deep breaths often as it hurts. just started after endoscopy. cannot get into to see doc until may 10 but this is really bugging me..

interesting as i have had exactly these symptoms

I also have these same symptoms. Sharp pain lasting a few seconds, mainly on the right side of sternum but sometimes moves to the left. I also have pain inbetween my shoulder blades. My doc seems to think its muscular and has set me up to try physical therapy. It doesn't FEEL muscular as I can't make the pain. But there are times when I press on it and it hurts. Sorry I have no answers for you. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone! wink

How is your chest feeling now that you've had the steriod shot and massage? Your pain sounds just like mine and have noticed that it SEEMS to be worse at night but that could just from lifting my kids and physical activities throughout the day. I have an appointment with the P/T on the 10th and am trying to figure out what my next step should be if that doesnt work.

after going to ER sun with chest pains, and basically testing as normal (which no one ever considers me!), did stress test today. Doc said I was in the top 4-5 he had ever seen, a "good" stress test. Great, really but does not answer my question about those chest pains. He did mention esophageal spasms but not sure how to resolve.

am doing a food journal to see about allergies. Not doing any lifting in case muscle pull (but would sure be a weird pull) and maybe starting a ppi.

those chest pains are scary!!!
