Anyone from Canada? How long did you wait to see a G.I doc?

just wondering...I have to wait 3-4 months!!!!! pretty sad :(

It took two months in th US to see my GI, but he was very popular.
I've got to wait three months to see my new endocrinologist, though. He's very popular, too.

I'm in Calgary. The last time I had to see a Gastro doc, it took almost 6months to get in. The appointment itself lasted 5 minutes. He looked at my paperwork, asked me some questions, confirmed I had IBS and said goodbye. I asked him what I could do for it and he said "lose weight". That was it and he left.

I haven't been that angry in forever. I hope wherever you are, you get better treatment than that.

I had to wait 3 months to even get the results of tests. Then they canceled that appointment for the convenience of the doctor, and set me out another month.
Docs don't seem to appreciate the level of concern of their patients...more to the point, they don't care.

Toronto, 1 week. Told me nothing I don't already know but he did an endoscopy the next week. Service was fast for me, but told me nothing new. In the end the internet and a few friends helped me more than doctors did with some advice.

it only took me a week as well n i hv great respect for my GI at least he listened n answered questions for me

Actually, I didn't mention my four month wait was in the US. Good luck finding a good doc and getting seen soon!

I am in Canada as well and it took me 2 months to see my GI as well. I think they are doing pretty good business if it takes that long to see a doc.

 I am from Vancouver and the only GI, I have seen is when getting Barium X ray done. He asked me why I was having X ray done, I told him all the problems that GERD causes for me. Some of things he said to me , I felt like saying "up yours, you JERK"

 I would like to know how it is in different US states, because here I can change family doctors but not specialists. I wanted to see the best otolaryngologist in B.C. but I ended up waiting two months to see a doctor I had seen before. Who does gives you a good answer, just looks at you and says nothing, it was a waste of my time.

 I wanted to get a endoscopy, but that was a no go.

I am in Vancouver. I have Ulcerative Colitis and see a GI regularly, but it did take ages to get in to see him the first time.

He does not care about GERD issues. Long story, but I went to Australia and had an endoscopy done and they found an ulcer in my lower esophagus. The aussie put me on parriet. I have asked my GI about stopping it and he says go ahead. No concern about the history of the ulcer. I really get the feeling that he is not interested in GERD.
