Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I was diagnosed with GERD about 5 months ago and took Kapidex (dexilent) for about 4 months. I stopped taking the medicine 27 days ago and started going with ACV with water and digestive enzymes. I don't feel heartburn anymore and don't feel like anything comes up when I burp. I sleep fine and don't wake up with chest tightness anymore. The only symptom I've been dealing with lately is that I have trouble swallowing occasionally. I had a scope done 4 months ago and like everyone that has this condition, I have anxiety at times for this advancing to Barrett's and cancer.
My question is for those that have found the natural path of low-carb and ACV useful, when do you go get another scope or check to make sure there's still not damage happening? I hear that there's a silent reflux and it doesn't show signs of heartburn. If that's the case, how would I ever know when this is getting worse... I know that a lot of my fear is irrational at this point, but I just don't have a plan in place as to preventing this from developing. I'm curious to those that have been successful staying off the medicine, when did you get checked out again and what were the results?
