I'm experiencing the typical aches and pains (shoulders, NG tube) but overall I'm feeling very well! NG tube was removed this morning and I've had a few clear liquids with no problem. I'll be discharged after lunch and am anxious to get home. The doctor is leaving a script
for nausea and pain.
At my consultation a month ago, he said I could return to my desk job in one week. Today however, he wants to see me in 1 1/2 weeks so sounds like it may be two weeks before I return.
Thanks for listening and I look forward to hearing from others. Hope you don't mind if I have questions. Thanks and take care.

Glad to hear you are going home and returning to work only one week after surgery sounds a bit soon to me so I will just caution you to go slowly and allow your body to heal. JMHO

Kitt, I think it's a bit early too. I'm going to talk to my boss and request another week.

I waited two weeks and took it very easy. I'm a teacher.
Just listen to your body.

While I'm taking Vicodin for pain, it's not relieving it all, especially the back/shoulder areas from the gas. I'm belching a bit. I made some soup from miso, which caused gas and bloating. I should've figured that out prior, since it's made from soybeans.
So, I'm sticking to clear liquids for two weeks and rest, and listen to my body like you are saying.
Thanks for letting me ramble. Take care.

I was given liquid loratab for my pain.
Have you tried gax-x strips for your gas?
Some people helped the shoulder pains by walking around some.

I got that shoulder tip pain too after my endoscopy. I was in hospital at the time due to acute pancreatitis. The nurses gave me some tramadoe for it to start off with then heat packs. I tried so hard to cope with it and then ended up crying so they gave me some morphine. That finally eased the pain for me. It is a very painful thing so I do feel for you. I was lucky enough to only need that one shot of morphine and then when I woke up from that all the pain had gone.
Hope you feel better soon.

Pam,
I too am from Illinois. I had my redo done at Loyola in Chicago. Very smart idea to listen to your body. I was able to eat any soft stuff I wanted and could tolerate after 2 days. You may start to get hiccups also. I get them when I am full. It;s my signal to stop eating. If I eat any more I am very bloated.
Take care,
Bill

I have a question related to the liquid diet. Have any of you liquified an entree in the blender, such as a BLT, enchilada, slice of pizza, etc.? I'm compliant with my liquid diet, but am seeking more variety in taste. I blended egg drop soup for lunch and it's pretty good!

I don't see why not. I was allowed to have any soft foods I could tolerate after the 2nd or 3rd day. Any length of time on liquids has to be rough. Then again I went 3 weeks with nothing by mouth, but that's another story.
I would give it a shot.
Take care,]
Bill
