I got choked today eating a piece of toast. :(
I had to grab a phenagen to keep from throwing up from it.
This evening I've got a sore throat, puss pockets, and a low fever. Grrrrr!
One of the children gave me a bug! I've coughed off and on all day and I can't swallow food tonight. It feels like it's sticking in my throat.

I hope the coughing doesn't mess up my wrap.

Kitt, so sorry to hear about your mother in law. I will pray she gets her wishes. She deserves that much. Make sure you take care of yourself too.

Hi Denise sorry your allergies are back in swing. I hope the shower went well. I have to get to bed. I was up an hour early. worrying about the surgery I guess. I have seconded guessed the surgery but tonight the shoulder is really bad and my foot isn't much better. I think I just need to get to bed for now and get some sleep. Talk to you all tomorrow. Barb

When is your surgery? We'll all be here rooting you on and sending you good wishes for a very speedy recovery. Good idea to get rest...

The shower went great, and really was lots easier than I expected. I was fortunate to have the help of my younger son's very sweet girlfriend. What a difference to have an extra set of hands!

I went back and read the post about your husband's mom. I'm so sorry that she's having such problems. Getting old isn't fun. My mom used to say, "Getting old is not for wimps!" How true. I hope she does well on medications and is able to enjoy her life with her husband and family. The reality of our mortality really slaps us in the face sometimes. Oh well...we just have to make the very best of the time we have. How lucky for your MIL to have you and your husband close by. She's lucky to have such a knowledgeable and kind daughter in law, too!

Well, I just got back from the gym...we'd been bad the past couple of weeks. We were having a grand time hiking outdoors, and when my allergies hit, we've been shut in, and it was hard to get back to working out at the gym...the work I had to do to get ready for the shower just gave us an excuse! Back at it now.

We're going to the Thousand Islands (St. Lawrence River) to visit my Teaching Assistant of four years on Friday. She and her husband have a boat there, and I'm looking forward to getting together with her, and enjoying a boat ride through the islands.

I just hope my allergies don't get the best of me while I'm there. I can't just live my life cloistered in my house...I've got to get some summer fun in, too! Wish me luck.

I'm somewhat better today. Throat still a little sore and scratchy. The pus pockets are gone though thanks to sal***er gargling.

I'd love to go on a boat ride. I've hadn't been on one in years. I imagine it's beautiful up there. How long 'til you get your new grandbaby?

I'm glad your MIL is feeling better. It does get a little crazy when the whole family gathers. There's 27 of us at Christmas time in my parents' three bedroom house. :O
Thank goodness it's only for about five hours for all.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Our first grandbaby is expected at Thanksgiving time. One doc set the date at the 25th of November, and another about a week earlier. It'll be a fun holiday time this year! We love being close to our kids now that we've moved. Tonight we went out to dinner with our younger son and his girlfriend (today is our 37th wedding anniversary...time does fly!). My husband is going golfing with both kids tomorrow morning. These are things we couldn't do when we were an hour and a half away! We love it here.

We haven't been on a boat ride for quite a while either. My teaching assistant and her husband have had a boat on the Thousand Islands for years, and although we shared the same classroom and kids for the past four years, I never got around to going up to visit her. We haven't seen each other since the end of school, so we'll have a lot of catching up to do.

I'm glad to hear your throat is better. Keep resting up!

Hi Kitt, I went to the outdoor tonight to see Marmaduke and Knight and Day. Both were awesome movies and helped keep my mind off the impending surgery for a bit. Today I was supposed to go talk to my docs surgical assistant but ended up sidelined by road construction both ways I tried to take. He said it was ok and would see me tomorrow and talk to me then. Only like 4 hours or so from now. I want to leave by six or 6:30 to allow for the construction. I am so anxious about the surgery and pain afterwards that my stomach is killing me. I think I will try putting some heat on it. Can't sleep of course. I can't wait to have it done and healed. My daughter was questioning whether it is necessary or not. I will let the doc address that concern. He is a big advocate for quality of life. He got me to realize that just living with the pain and limitations with my hands the way they were was not any way to live if it could be fixed. Well am going to go try that heat on my tummy. I'll let you all know how it goes later today or tomorrow.

My throat was feeling much better today, but now I'm having tummy issues! >:((
I stopped at a local fast food place to grab a BBQ, rings, and strawberry lemonade. It tasted great. Now it's two hours later and I'm feeling nausea, rolling cramps, chills, and bloating. I took some of my anti-nausea medicine to keep from throwing up.
I pray it's not food poisoning. :O
Well, the medicine is making me very sleepy. I'm ready to go to bed. Night ya'll.

Woke up with a calmer stomach, but had a sore feeling inside and out. Stomach was upset some today, but feeling some better. I guess it was just too much acidic foods at once????

Bill, I'm sorry you couldn't make it. It's so frustrating when you can't get to love ones in need.

Hi Kitt, I am just hoping for a doctor/hospital weekend. one of my sisters had to drive me back down to the hospital so they could check my pain pump to see if it was still working since my pain had gotten so bad. According to what my doc told my family it wasn"t that bad. I got a different story from the assistant today. He said there was extensive bursitis they had to clean out and then they took off the end of my collar bone and some other bone. my foot they took the bunion off and the toe nail next to the big toe because it was ingrown. He made me promise I would take the fungal med for 3 months so it wouldn't come back like that. My pump is working but the block wore off. the nurse down in day surgery gave me two things of some stronger meds through my pump line to make sure it was still working. I dread when the pump is done tomorrow if it hurts this bad with it. I am already breaking out and itching from the tape all over me. It was a very rough experience yesterday. It took 1 1/2 hours to get an IV in and 6 different people. I have 10 needle pokes in my right arm, 2 in my left foot and then they ended up in the right side of my neck with the IV. I was real close to calling it a day and going home. They waited to put the block in my other foot until I was under general because the anesthesioloist said I had been through enough already. After wards he came and told me they had all sorts of problems with my air way because of my small lower jaw. he also looked at my daughter and told her she would have the same issues if she had surgery and should let her GP know so it would be in her chart. He said in case of emergency it could save her life. I thought that was really cool that he took the time to share that. Every one there was really great there. I didn't get out of there until 6pm last night.My surgery was half an hour late because of the IV problems. Time to go get my foot up and ice on my shoulder. This is worse than the histerectomy. Sorry you couldn't make the trip to support your family. Hey, you can do what you can do. There is no use stewing over it. Get back into the moment, and enjoy some sunshine and family.

It's good to know what happened...now they can help keep you healthy. It's amazing what they can find through genetic testing, isn't it? I'm glad you recovered from your TIA and hope they get you all set with whatever blood thinner you need to keep from having it happen again. So, will your family get tested to see if they have that propensity? Hopefully none of them do, but it's always better to know.

Sorry about your stomach upset. There's always something, isn't there? Hopefully you get feeling better very soon and can rest up before next week. Around here the teachers are just going back on Wednesday, and the kids start the following Tuesday. But guess what? I won't have to worry about it! I'm on permanent summer vacation!

Wow...you did have some major work done. It's good that you could get both things done at the same time, but a tough recovery for you. As you well know, once the initial surgical pain subsides, you'll be on the road to recovery.

I had foot surgery two years in a row, and I remember the surgeon telling me that I needed to get ahead of the pain...so that when the block wore off I would be protected by the other pain meds.

I did have bunion surgery years ago--when I was 16--both feet at the same time. (That's the surgery that created my foot deformities. My foot doc now said that it would be a cut-and-dried lawsuit against the doc who butchered my big toes, and that i would, without question, walk away with a million dollar settlement). Anyway, I do remember that it was very painful...This too will pass. Just hang in there and you'll be up and kicking before you know it. I'll be sending pain relieving thoughts your way...Take care and feel better!

LOL! Sorry about that...couldn't resist! Yup...some of us never graduate. Although I'm not going to be in the classroom, I'm tutoring one student, and am looking forward to finding more tutoring clients. I specialize in little ones...math and ELA. The little guy I'm tutoring now is entering gr.2 with no number sense. I'm working on building some concepts from the bottom up. Hey, once a teacher, always a teacher, don't you think?
