Hello,
I have had acid reflux for over 10 years and it has become unbearable. I was vomiting daily, sometimes 2-3 times a day. On top of taking 40 mg of Prevacid, I was taking three to four 150 mg tablets of Zantac. I was hoping to have the TIF Esophyx procedure and went to see my surgeon today. He told me he was no longer doing them because he had had too many patients who wound up worse after the procedure and contrary to Endogastric solutions, it is not reversible. For the past 2 months I have changed my diet and it is working. Before every meal I have a glass of water with 2 tablespoons of Braggs Apple Cider with the "Mother." I sweeten this with Susta, an artificial sweetener that doesn't create acid in the stomach. For meals, I eat the same thing everyday. Every morning I have 1/3 C of cooked millet (an alkaline grain) with 1/2 a banana and a handful of strawberries or a handful of fresh pineapple. For lunch I have a salad which consist of Romain lettuce, Cucumbers, 1 stalk of Celery, 1 Carrot, some red pepper & red cabbage. I then squeeze the juice from 1/2 a fresh lemon over it - no salad dressing because of the fat. For dinner I have a chicken breast with a vegetable. I have lost 45 pounds which I'm sure has also helped with the reflux. I wish you all the best. I had to have several tests in preparation of my expected surgery, Barium Swallow, Upper GI & Gastic Emptying. My Gastric Emptying was abnormal. My surgeon told me I needed to see my primary care doctor to discuss what my options are. I hope this helps. Robin in MA
