Pain on left at bottom of rib cage??

I was diagnosed 4 years ago with GERD. I have had constant stomach issues since I was in high school. I have self diagnosed myself with IBS also. When I go into the doctors for pains in my stomach and abdomen they can never find anything. There is no rhyme or reason for this new pain on my left side. So any insite or advise would be great. Thanks!

Hi and welcome. I'm not sure what that could be but do be careful with self diagnosing. I self diagnosed GERD and ended up in hospital with Acute Pancreatitis due to a gallstone blocking my common duct. Self diagnosis can be dangerous. I would seek a second opinion on what could be causing your pain.

I didn't self diagnose my GERD. I had an upper GI done for that. I self diagnosed IBS because doctors wouldn't ever give me a straight answer and I have had one doctor agree that I have IBS.

I too get that pain, if you are talking about right under the left rib cage. It the spleenic flexure of your colon. Mine is narrow and when food is passing thru that area it can cause pain. I have ibs and diverticulosis. the double whammy of bowel issues. A well as having a fundoplication in May. So I am really careful what I eat as well as the amounts. Too much grease, fiber and fat seem to make it worse for me. Try keeping a food diary to see what seems to make it worse or better. and see a gastroenterologist also.

Perhaps a colonoscopy is called for to dx the IBS.  Because there are usually no physical signs to definitively diagnose irritable bowel syndrome, diagnosis is often a process of elimination. Thus a colonoscopy or other tests to rule out another medical disorder.
