Hi there,
Agree with previous posting ... especially as the medication caused you to get heartburn .. better wait a while before taking it again. If one has low stomach acid, any antiacid which contains calcium in one or other form will affect you, as the calcium will cancel out some of the little acid you still have left . food does not digest properly when you have low stomach acid, just lies and ferments causing all kinds of symptoms.
Having been wrongly diagnosed myself ... with high acid ... and when my PPI {omeprazole) made me worse realised I had low stomach acid ..( actually posted a link to this as low stomach acid is more common than people think) Taking digestive enzyme capsules brought a quick turn around for me .. now I'm a great believer in enzymes. My husband always had bad indigestion, burping, passing gas etc ... and he is also taking this now, and the burping and gas are gone and he feels great! Concentrating on foodstuffs containing enzymes at the moment .. eating a lot of papaya (or paw-paw), dates and drinking pineapple juice with meals.
Good luck, Cecelia
