Joy, great great news about not needing surgery!! I told this to my husband who was told RC surgery...so maybe he'll get a second opinion!!

Bill, you may have posted on this already but what do you think of dexillant? I was given this but did not wind up taking it as by then I felt my sx had really gotten better. My doc said it was the best drug (PPI) that he liked a lot better than prilosec/prevacid...does it not work for you? Just curious as i have the script!

ladyjane, Yes, I start PT tomorrow.
I went back to work today, without the kids. I'm exhausted and in a lot of pain. I had to take some Loratab to ease the pain and do my exercises for my foot.
I'm going to spend this evening resting. Whew!

Good Morning Dear Friends - All of you !

I now know why my brain has been on malfunction for a few days.

We have a wood burner and yesterday our CO2 monitor went off but my husband checked everything and put new batteries in the monitor as well as opened the windows in the house.

I have been feeling very tired and yesterday morning was so sleepy I took a nap on the couch.  When hubby got home I mentioned I was so tired but blamed it on my being out on Tuesday shopping.

This morning he found a crack in the wood burner - so I think  I have my answer to the sleepiness and mild headache. Could be why I lost my long post I had written yesterday - yehaa,  get to blame it on something legitmate versus just old brain. 

No wood burning for now.  To be honest now I am anxious that this could happen again so we are going to put in more CO2 monitors.

I started Part 4 of this thread and hope you all enjoy it.

Yikes, Kitt! Glad you found out what was happening. I think you're right about installing carbon monoxide detectors. Actually, they have some that just plug into an existing plug outlet. We got that type before we sold our house, as a CO2 detector was required for the sale.

We're on our first day of babysitting, as my DIL has returned to work part time. We'll be on the job about two and a half days a week. He's at an age when it's a bit daunting. Once he's a little older and can actually entertain himself a bit with teethers and toys, it will be easier. Now he's at the eat, sleep, change, rock, bounce, walk stage! My husband is my partner babysitter, which makes it a lot easier. He's holding the little guy right now.

We're loving it. So glad we moved to be closer to our kids. Last night we were at our son's JV basketball game...he's the coach. My husband just loves being able to go to all of his games without driving an hour and a half each time.

KITT!!! OMG! I'm glad that all is well..now, but holy cow! We have an outdoor wood burning furnace, so no CO2 in our house.
You are okay now, right? We would be lost without you :)

Scary, Kitt! So glad you caught it in time.
I insisted on buying one when I moved into the house I live in now. It had a large gas heater with a blower on it. It heated most of the house at the time. We now have a great central heating and air system and took it out.

Thanks All,  I am good.

My MIL is in the hospital with her CHF and has not been  doing well.  She is 85 and has bad heart disease but is not a candidate for any surgery so I will be off and online.   It is only the first week of 2011 smhair The physicians  are setting her up for pallitive care at home so she should be back home perhaps on Monday or Tuesday. A hospital bed is ordered along with home oxygen and many other things.

As the nurse in the family I will be trying to help her as much as possible.

Yesterday my neice ( only blood relative ) had a D & C. She was 7 weeks pregnant and on ultrasound on Thursday there was no heartbeat.  She had called me and was sobbing.  How I wish I lived closer to her so I could have been with her.  It was her Mom,  my sister, that died of ovarian cancer in 2009.

To top it off my daughter's brother-in-law found out on Monday he has gallbladder cancer when he had his gallbladder removed on New Year's Day............OK enough on the not so good news.

Thanks Denise - you are so appreciated and I agree,  we need a cruise too.

Joy,  how is PT going for you ?  I sincerely hope it is helping.

Janice, I read your other thread and glad to know you are talking with your surgeon's office.

Oh, Kitt, I want to give you a great big ((((((hug)))))! You will have to use every strategy in your arsenal to stay in the moment. It never rains but it pours...I guess those sayings have been around so long because they're true. Hang in there, my friend. You know you have us to help out here, and lend support. Take care of yourself, so you can be there for the others you love.

I want to go! Florida sounds great since it's supposed to snow again this week. I spent 6 hours out in the cold the other day fixing the wife's car. Heater hoses and a radiator hose. Sure picked a cold day to do it since I don't have a garage any more. Now I am helping one of the other coaches on our travel team fix his daughter's Jeep. tore the whole front of the Engine apart to see why the timing is off. The timing chains all jumped and we have to check the hydraulic tensioners and replace the chains. At least he has a heated garage, but after 2 days of 6 hours each wrenching my ribs are killing me. had to take today off after practice.
The high school team isn't going to Florida this year. Our break is during bike week. Not a good time to be down there with a bunch of teenagers! So we are going to Nashville instead. Almost impossible to find a hotel with an indoor pool though.
My daughter has to have PT on her shoulders. She has had some pain in her right one for a few months. The ortho said no surgery just PT. Her therapist said we caught it in time and once we get them strengthened back up she should pitch about 5 to 6 mph faster, throw overhand harder and hit even harder than she does now. Yeehaw! Bring on them college scouts when she is 100%! She already throws 56mph, not bad for 5'3".

Kitt- So glad you all are okay with that crack in the wood burner. Please be careful. I saw on tv some teens were at a hotel New Years and died from CO2 from a car that was running in a garage under the room. they had the door cracked open and the exhaust went into the room.

I was just getting used to are snow being gone and they say we are going to get more Tuesday and Wednesday, yuck!

I hear they are getting a nasty storm in the southern states, Atlanta airport closed.  Would that be your neck of the woods Joy ?

I will meet you in Fort Lauderdale for sure ....even if I have to walk, Janice and Denise.   Bill better get that car fixed fast.

MIL went home today.  Hospital bed and Oxygen delivered this afternoon so hopefully that will help her stay out of the hospital.

I am staying in the moment and going to take my daughter to Dermatologist tomorrow to have a precancerous lesion removed off her face.  She needs her Mommy with her.  It was biopsied and was not cancer, so that was great news.

Well I have to run for tonight and practice my limbo for the cruise..........

I've only done one PT meeting. It was mainly for evaluation. He had me do 3 simple exercises and iced me down. I'm supposed to go tomorrow but there's a severe ice/snow storm coming in tonight. So I don't think I'll make it tomorrow. Maybe Wednesday?

Bill, can you come find the mystery coolent leak my 99 grand am has? :)) Naw, my father's helping me. We've just got to find a warmer day to work on it. He just replaced the O2 sensor, because the catalytic converter overheated due to the exhaust system messed up. Phew!

Janice, I want to go too. Can you carry an extra trunk with you? :)

I'm hoping to take a carribean cruize one day. Maybe for my 50th birthday? I've got 7 yrs to save up. :)

Bill, it's a 99 grand am SE with 4 litter engine. We've found out three years ago it didn't have an O ring on the pump and we replaced it. I wonder if it's needing another one. $2.00 ring, but a ton of work.

Janice I want to go too! I hate the cold and it's been way too cold up north here. Janice, glad to see you hanging around here more. We missed you. I hope all is well with you.

Kitt, that is really scary. I'm sure glad you are ok. Sorry to hear about all your problems with your family all at once. I will keep you and them in my prayers. I've been really really sick for 2 weeks and counting. Started out with a yeast infection on the bottom of my stomach so they wouldn't give me anything for my sinus infection right away so of course it had settled in my lungs already 2 days later. Spent some time in the ER on New years day couldn't breath and chest pain, severe cough. Felt like when I was in the hospital in TN. Then had to run around trying to find a pharmacy that was open. Not the way I wanted to start the year. Now on my second round of antibiotics and ending my steroids in 3 more days. I also have thrush again in my mouth really bad. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm falling apart at the seams. Oh and my son left ticked off because my daughter made him and his wife mad and they left 2 days early so I didn't get to do every thing I wanted to with the kids. He never talked to me again and now he has left for Afgahnistan as of yesterday. Oh well will just have to pray for his safe return in a year. He will be a personal driver and guard for a coronel. So it will be a bit different than his tour of Iraq as a diesel mechanic.

Denise I found out my allergy to cats is still alive and well. We are trying to keep my daughters kitty down stairs but she likes to sneak up and has been in my bedroom 2x. Friday I want to go get a air cleaner for my bedroom. Any suggestions? I don't have much cash on hand so can't afford much but any thing would be better than nothing. My daughter and her fiance have been cleaning the dust and mold out of our basement while they are staying here. My hubby will be going to the doc tomorrow since he coughs non stop and it keeps me up even with a sleeping pill. I think I will call the doc and talk to his nurse and explain how bad it is and he needs the strongest thing known to man kind! Lol. My daughters cough isn't much better either but she has no insurance. Even though I'm tired when I go to work it is a relief to get away from the sound of them coughing.

Bill, we all need to go where it is warm. The cold doesn't help all our health problems that's for sure.

Joy, I talked to my granddaughters mom down near Nashville and she said Bella won't be going to school tomorrow since they were going to get hit bad with the winter storm. I have to send a box off with all the stuff that was left behind in my son's hasty departure. Oh well Bella and her little sister love to get boxes from WI. I'll have to find something special to tuck in their for her little sister. Well I am now going to attempt to try to get some sleep with all the coughing all night. If I could afford too I'd send them to a hotel so I could have a quiet nights sleep. I can hear them even with ear plugs in. Take care and rest up tomorrow on your day off. Barb

I woke up this morning to 8 inches of snow and more still falling! It's beautiful.
We went down to Dublin, Ga to attend a benefit sing for my cousin on Saturday. She was diagnosed back in October with tumors in her colon and lungs. Her left lung had 8 tumors and her right lung had 5 tumors. Tow were slowly closing off her esophagus. She was given one month to live. She had the tumors in her colon removed surgically and is undergoing daily radiation and chemo treatment for her lungs. They said her tumor markers have changed from 37.5 to 23. I'm not quite sure if that's good or not, but the doctor told her she's not going to died anytime soon.
We managed to raise $8,000 for her & her family.

I'm very sore and stiff from all of the riding, cold, and sitting on church pews. I also had an allergy attack from the detergent used at the motel. My face was so swollen and red yesterday.
I'm just going to rest today and pray for no school tomorrow either. :)

Hope everyone is doing well today !  AS I tell my daughter from time to time when I am frustrated or happy - Today is the first day of the rest of my life - which is bound to make her laugh.

Snow's still laying around today. I'm off work for the third day tomorrow. It looks like it's not going to be gone by Thursday either. The snow has melted some but it's suppose to freeze again tonight. The temperture is not supposed to rise above freezing the rest of the week.

Last night I got hit with the symptoms of UTI starting. :(
After four hours of misery I suddenly started feeling better. The pain vanished and I could go again. I guess the prayers worked. :)

My throat is killing me though because I slept without my Cpap between running back and forth. Never again.

Kitt, if today is the first day of the rest of my life then my life's going to be rough.

Wouldn't that be fun (and slightly pathetic!!) to have us all on the cruise! If I did the limbo, my back would crack and I'd be lying on the floor; Barb would come over to help me, but, alas, there is some cat hair on my clothes (thanks to Casey and JJ) and Barb would go full blown with an asthma attack. Kitt would run over to help..her being the greatest nurse on the planet and all..BUT, had to stop, since we're in the sun and she can't go in the sun; so Denise comes over (mind you, I'm squealing in pain and Barb is acking in air!!). So Denise comes over...carrying the baby, but has to put the baby down...here comes Bill!! he grabs the baby and out go the ribs!

By this time, my dear husband is laughing so hard, he has a heart attack and Joy gives her c-pap machine to him to help him stay alive just long enough for the cruise ship to drop us all off at the nearest port!!!
