Hi All,
After my utterly miserable messages and venting during the first 3 months post fundo, I had started to feel better - not perfect - but much better. Unfortunately I have taken a turn for the worse, after some fairly vigorous activities last weekend. My surgeon told me that I could resume completley normal activity 3 months post operation, including all sport. I really quizzed the surgeon on this and he was adamant that the wrap was secure enough after 3 months, particularly in someone young with a good, protein rich diet. He is a very experienced surgeon and, more importantly, conservative surgeon, so I took him at this word. To be extra safe, I waited 4 months and 1 week before last weekend going out on Sat night (letting my hair down!) and doing a lot of dancing, followed by some rugby on Sunday morning.
I have felt quite sore around the wrap area since, though this has gradually abated over the last week, though there are still some residual twinges/aches of discomfort. What is more troubling is the fact that I have a fairly constant urge to burp that wasn't there before last weekend's activities. I also feel like my stomach is gurgling a lot more than before, directly around the wrap site. I wonder whether the wrap has been strwetched so is now ventign air up and down. I am hoping and praying that I have perhaps just aggravated the wrap rather than damaged or disrupted it in any way. I also feel a bit more heartburny than before.
What I would like to know is whether anyone else has experienced this kind of thing after exertion and if so, is it permanent? I am very upset about it as I had just had a barium swallow the day before to show all was ok and had been SO careful for the previous 4 months. Any reassurance you can provide that this is not a big deal and will settle with time woudl be greatly appreciated!
Presumably vomiting is the worse thing for the wrap, so it could be worse, right? For those that have been unlucky enough to be sick, what was the after effect with regard to how the wrap felt?
thanks in advance to all and I hope you are doing well.
Simon
