How long should a manometry last?

i'm curious cause mine was done in less than 10 minutes, i've read it takes about 20-30 min

dx: was a nonspecific esophageal motility disorder

Mine took about a half an hour. You were lucky yours did not take that long! One minute with that icky tube down my throat is one minute longer than I want!
Have the doctors told you what your next step in treatment is?

Mine was rather quick, but I'm not positive how long it was. Maybe 20? They had to take it out and put it back in again when I fought it. :((

It all depends on how good you are about not swallowing in between swallows. Every non-directed swallow means that your esophageal muscles have to reset, then the test is continued. The swallow has to be "clean"...meaning it's separated from other swallows by a resting esophagus. My tech wanted 10 swallows like that. If a person is fighting the test it could take a really long time. Someone who is able to do a great job of not reflexively swallowing won't take as long.

at Amandapanda: the dr, i saw just gave me a muscle relaxant called ciclobenzaprine or something, been on it for a week no results, according to him what i spit in the morning (yellow saliva with nasty smell and taste) doesnt come from my stomach, i went to see an ENT again and he sent me to get a scanner of my nasal cavities (not sure what the name of the test was) but if the test was normal it would rule out post nasal drip as the cause, shockingly the test came back normal so my symptoms come from a gastric issue, the frustrating thing is ph monitoring

and bilitec wont detect anything abnormal either, the last 2 drs i saw told me i was a strange case and they didnt seem to know what to do with me cry

I had a 24 hour manometry test where I had a very thin tube down my throat, out my nose, and attached to a monitoring box I had to carry around. This had buttons on I could press whenever I felt acid indigestion, and it allowed a decent amount of monitoring. When the results came back, they confirmed I had 3x the amount of acidity in my oesophagus than a normal person, which paved the way for a wrap.

Maybe this is a procedure your doctor could offer?
