Jorgito sometimes the healing process can be different for every individual, I myself, have as much chest burning as before the surgery, my doctor is not very concerned, he say we have to give it time. What I am trying to tell you is that sometimes we just have to wait a little bit, remember there was a lot of trauma in your abdominal cavity. It is very easy to loose hope, and to be honest I am going through that myself, but all i can do is wait and see.

I was just going to email how depressed I was from the burning and I saw your message out there. That is just what I needed also!!!!! I wonder if you know of anyone who has had this problem. I have to take a laxative every 3 or 4 days. They work fine but do not like to take them.

Do you know anyone who has that problem. I had my surgery on March 23 which is a little over a month. I know the message was not for me but it sure helped.

Hi Co Grandma I personally don't know anyone that have gone through this surgery, most of the time people of my age don't go to surgeries, but I have email a couple of people from this forum that have had the same problem, they have told me that it took quite some time for them to start feeling better, I know it is quite hard because you don't know if it is that the surgery fails or if you just have to give it some time. Even if this surgery doesn't work for me I am glad I did it, because then i will have the satisfaction that i did everything I could. But we have to be as much optimistic as you can.

about the laxatives I hate them also, that is why I always use the prune juice, many people can't stand it, but I really like it, it is too bad that if you drink too much of it yo will flood your toilet.

confused  Hey

I need some incouragement. I am about 39 days out from my surgery. I was doing fine with soft foods but 2 days ago I put some ketchup on something and now I have burning in my stomach, nasuea, and can not eat the soft foods except 2 or 3 bites at a time. Now I am back to broths and liquids for now. I am worried about that as I can not do milk and all the shakes are with milk. I have already lost 25 pounds. Can anyone help.

Try some soy milk or lactose free milk.

Watch out for the spicy foods, you're still healing.

Thank you for your help. I will try that. I feel like I am not getting enough nurtients. Do you have the trouble with burning in your stomach? I guess it will take me a couple of days to get back to where I was. Thank you so much for your help.

I'm a year and five months out from my surgery. I do not remember having burning in my stomach during those first few days.

Are you drinking chicken broth or beef broth? I ate a lot of sugar-free Jell-O to get my protein. Edy's also make a wonderful all fruit bar it is 100% juice and bits of fruit are in it. You can try some soups with tiny noodles or tiny pieces of chicken, like Campbell's condensed soups. Just remember to chew very well.

I am over 30 days out. I think I have more of upset stomach. I was doing pretty good but I think I ate to much to fast. Now I feel like I am starting over. I know I am not but it is so frustrating!!!!!!
Thank you for you input. I will try the fruit bars. I do the chicken broth and found a chicken broth with vegetable broth. I had been doing mash potatoes but not I feel like I need to go back to the broths. Makes me pretty sad. When did you really feel like a person again. Thanks for your help.

I felt human around month two.
30 days is not even to the six weeks time frame. I was still on soft foods during that time. Vienna sausages were my life.

Thank you for the support. I am having some pain in my chest every once in a while. I guess I need to just go with the softer foods until I am a little further along. You have been a great inspiration at a really difficult time. Please continue to be an inspiration.

Sometimes we have ups and downs in our recovery, today I eat a little bit too much, because it is hard for me to know when I am full or not after the surgery, so I over ate today and I felt bad for a couple of hours but later I felt good anyways, what I am trying to say is that we are going to have bad days in this recovery, but as long as we take good care of ourselves we are all going to be fine.

Thank you for your support. Doctors do not tell you what a long recovery you have to go through. I would have had the surgery anyway as I could not hold anything down for 2 weeks before my surgery. But it is frustrating at time as you know. Yes we will all make it but it is nice to have people to talk to and ask questions. Thank you again so very much.

HI, everything was so nice but today I ate enchiladas and a bit of salad and reflux again I feel so depressed is that normal please HELP confused

Jorgito, That's a heavy meal to attempt. Raw veggies are a no-no until week 10. Your stomach can't handle them yet.
Enchiladas are like placing a bomb inside right now. Those beans are rough on your stomach. Did you do mole, too? Ouch!

Take some liquid antiacid and treat your stomach with care.

Is everyone doing okay? Not a  good day for me. I am a little over a month out and have some burning in my stomach that comes and goes. Sure is frustrating  with this healing thing.

I know it will take awhile but wish I could be well yesterday  HA HA

HI People .
I am feeling so sad and depressed because I am having relux, I dont know if any of you had relux after surgery. this 25 day after surgery. I called the doctor and he told me it is very normal to have relux after because of the wrapped thing but IDK what to think.
Is all this normal based on your experience, is it part of the healing process? I'd thank your help.

i am 5 weeks post op and still have what it looks like reflux mainly burning in my chest, my surgeon is not too worry about, however if in 2 weeks things doesn't improve he will do a barium swallow just to see. for some people it take more time to start feeling good.

Yes I am 34 days from my surgery and I have what feels like acid refux. My doctor put me back on a Nexium for awhile. I guess it might be common and my doctor was not real concerned either.

So try not to get depressed. I know it is hard as I was feeling the same way. So hang in there and kind of try to not do to many spicy foods.

Hang in there we will make it.

My doctor also told me to take the Nexium I was taking before for the reflux. You are about the same days out from your surgey as I am and so is Laura and we all seem to have the reflux. That is interesting. Maybe it is part of the healing at our stage of the game.

HI all-
My surgeon told me that after the Nissen sometimes normal amounts of acid can be perceived as high amounts due to the esophagus relearning what is normal. Kinda like when a nerve has been injured and takes time to readjust after it's healed. I had the same symptoms for about 2 or 3 months and it gradually got better. I didn't even really notice when it stopped, it just wasn't there anymore one day.
