Hi Trev,I'm coming into this conversation a little late, but I thought I'd weigh in with some thoughts.
When you have trouble breathing, what is it like? That would make a difference as to what the cause might be.
Yes, reflux can affect your voice, your sinuses, your lungs...lots more than just your esophagus.
You can have a flare up that heals and gets better, but it's likely that you've got an underlying issue--hiatal hernia, weak LES, etc. or no matter how much beer you drank you wouldn't be having this problem.
Now the vomiting is another issue. If you drank all that alcohol (shots, too
) then all that alcohol burned on the way down, and also on the way up. On the way up it was joined by lovely stomach acid, which is enough to do its own damage.
Your esophagus is likely irritated, as is your sinuses. Are you hoarse?
Does your problem happen mostly at night?
Does it bother you to eat?
Do you know basic GERD triggers? It is true that alcohol relaxes the LES and makes reflux more likely, but your symptoms are continuing long after the alcohol effects have worn off.
Have you been to a doctor? The esophagus and stomach tissue takes time to heal--longer than some other tissues.
If you can describe what your difficulty breathing sensation feels (and sounds) like, I might be able to provide some suggestions.
If this continues, a doctor visit might be a good option. There are some good prescript
ion drugs out there that might help in your healing.
Good luck!
Denise
