Acid Reflux/Breathing

The vegus nerve that runs down the back of the esophagus can cause all sorts of pains in your chest area.

That's why it's fired up and hurting.

Hi all just an update, i went to the doctor's about the pain in my shoulder blade again today and he said that i would be best off going to a+e and maybe's get a chest xray.

Anyway's 4 hr's later i spoke to the docotr he said it is 1 of 2 thing's... Either i have a small infection from when the scope was done but it is not showing up on the xray (which is a good thing)... Or like dencha said gallbladder pushes on the nerve that cause's pain in my shouler blade.

I have lost nearly 20 lb's in the last 9 week's since all this started good job i have a lot of weight on me i was 252 lb's i am now 232 lb's... The thing is losing that much has me worried aswell ... Is it normal to lose this kind of weight in that time?I have never really ate like i used to since all this started.

Now i have a question can gerd cause problem's with your gallbladder? And how do i go about getting my gallbladder checked out?

Update had my barium swallow done today stomach was gassed like crazy, the chalky stuff is awful, the flake's and lemon wasn't much better.

Is it normal for them to make a barium bread sandwich for you to eat? because that was disgusting!

Trev your doctor is giving you a barium.  Hiatus hernia complications will show up  if you have them.  The pain can mimic heart attacks in back face neck shoulder arms and tum.  Reflux, sickness and pain are symptoms of a H H.  Breathing problems if you have it pressing on your diaphragm or lung.  Your doctor seems to be going through the right process of elimination.  He sounds a good one.  Alcohol will make it worse.  Dry biscuits will help you keep the acid down.  Eat little and often,plain small meals.  Your body is saying look after me.

It is like reading my own symptoms on the page by looking at your posts.

I have been going through a long period (5 months) of not feeling well. My main symptoms are sore throat, back pain and wheezing. I don't feel the heartburn, but I am on PPI's at the moment as my ENT thinks it is GERD.

I have had two chest X-Rays that found nothing, a whole bank of blood tests that essentially came up empty and a thyroid ultrasound that showed some enlargement and small nodules. My ENT has scoped my throat twice and found nothing, yet my symptoms continue. I am off to see a GI specialist next week and hope that he will give me an endoscopy (mainly to put my mind at ease, I am convinced that I have esophogeal cancer).

Have you had an update sice your last post? Would be good to see how things are going.
