Have hiatal hernia now

Called about my endoscopy and they told me i have a hiatal hernia. Dont know the size of it. Going to talk to my primary doc tomorrow and start taking the steps towards surgery. Has anybody had surgery for hiatal hernia? This doesnt help my anxiety. Im so scared rite now.

Everyone who has had a Nissen has had a hernia repair, so you're among many who've experienced it. However, I do believe that some people get the hernia repair without the Nissen unless their LES is not working properly.

Don't stress. I'm sure it can be done laproscopically, so it will be an easy recovery.

I think we all worry a lot if our belly is hurting. My surgeon and GI doc both told me that many people have HH with no symptoms at all and some are fairly large. Mine was small but I knew right where it was because it hurt. Everyone is so different.

I'm still worrying too much after my surgery on August 1 because of the fact I can't take Rx pain meds for the post-op pain. It's just not fun to hurt no matter what the reason is and even if you know it's going to stop eventually.

Have you had surgery? I'm sorry but I can't remember.

Go to a GI. They will get the ball rolling towards surgery.
