Im so tired of just sitting here in pain and struggling thru each day and just wanting to give up. Why do i feel like no one cares about this disease in the medical world, they just tell us to take a bunch of meds and wait for them to work and when they dont just give us a different one. When will this disease be taken seriousley? Im tired of being in pain and nothing being done about it. I dont even have a life anymore.

I agree, This sickness must be taken seriously.. Is there some organization that really intense in Gerd research for the cure?
this is madness being sick all single day :(

I havent heard of any orginazation, but there should be. I know, i hate being sick all day and everyday. Just want to be normal again.

If meds dont work, you can have surgery...right now you can have the Nissen Fundoplication, EsophyX, the LINX device or the Stretta procedure.

The LINX as of right now is only available in Europe.

Companies want to make money so they will always be trying to give you a better solution. Someone posted a link in this forum to an article where in the future it would be possible to create new human sphincters from scratch.

i sympathize and tend to agree with most of what you say...but guess what

just when you think things cant get any worse...they do..., yep...things can always get worse

so i just remind myself of the tragedy in life all around us,,, friends, neighbors, on the news,,,, people i know who have it tougher than me, and bear up,,,true heroes, and i try to just carry on thru my pain

like many here i have much more than just gerd going on in my life, multiple illnesses and other problems

what can we do, life is hard, sometimes very very hard...i just hope, and pray...for a better day

I understand how you feel, I have had various conditions over the years including fibromyalgia and Graves' disease to name just 2 of them. I personally have found the GERD/LPR to be the hardest for me to deal with. Some days I feel very low. But, I agree with mock turtle, things can get worse and I do try to remember that there are others worse off than me. That being said, it is a challenge to keep a positive attitude, it is hard work and I do not succeed everyday but sometimes I do.

I've decided that if I can't get the number of good days to at least equal the number of bad days, I am going to talk with someone in behavioral health. Sometimes we just need someone to listen and don't want to always have it be our family or friends.

You're not alone! I feel your pain!

There have been days that I was in your shoes, days I thought I would have to be institutionalized because I couldn't take it anymore. I have gone with behavioral therapy, hypnosis and acupuncture, to try to deal with the emotional strain and let down that I feel with these GI issues. Today I battled through my g'sons one year birthday party with pressure under my chest, bloating, cramping and anxiety feelings but I made it through it.

Could be much much worse. Through the worst of my last few months, my girlfriends mother passed of stomach cancer. To go and sit with her and see how peaceful she was with her fate, truly empowered me to keep on keeping on. She battled for 5 months without a pain med one until her last three days and that was only to help ease her through the transition. I know it doesn't lesson what you are feeling but it was an experience I was thankful and blessed to have witnessed during my fight with these diseases.

Hang in there, tomorrow is a new day and may you find some comfort and relief.
