Hi Myturn,Welcome to the Healing Well
Wrapped Club!
I'd put you recovery at Day 3, as you can't really count the first day in the hospital. the 25th @ 2 to the 26th is Day 1, the 26th to the 27th @ 2 is Day 2, and the 27th to the 28th @ 2 is Day 3.
Glad to hear things are starting to settle in. The first few days are the hardest, and you'll do find that every day it'll get a bit better. I think Day 4 or 5 can be a challenge as well...I remember getting TONS of saliva made by my mouth in reaction to the esophageal challenge. That only lasted a day, but I ended up spitting out most of it because swallowing still wasn't that easy. Everyone is different, though, so you might have that experience.
Also, keep in mind that the swelling will increase each day until Day 14, when it starts to go down. You swallowing will get worse before it gets better.
It's all worth it, though! Just think...you're on the other side! You suffered greatly from GERD and it wasn't leading anywhere. Your healing struggle now is a positive one, as it will lead to a better quality of life.
If you can surrender into your recovery and follow it where it leads, you will have a much more positive experience. It is what it is...just let it happen. If you struggle against it, and want it to go faster, you'll face a lot of frustration. Relax, and follow where it takes you.
Happy Healing!
Denise
PS--Your idea to start a healing thread is a good one! Thanks for doing that. I'm sure it will help others who come seeking information and support. Take care!
