Pre and post Nissen, my experience.

Yeah - that's tomorrow!!!!

For anyone anticipating and or planning this procedure, Good luck and GO for it. I am - TOMORROW. All my aprehention, anxiety, anticipation, expectation, well, all that stuff, is finally coming to it's zenith. The culmanation of years of suffering, stressing and hoping. It all comes together tomorrow with my Doctor doing what he knows best.

So yay for that at least.

Soon, all will be as it is.

So what can I do about it. Not much. Pray and trust. And hope and wish for the best. Which is what I am doing. I am over my fears and anxieties I started this post with. I have convinced myself that I am the calm and confident guy going into this. Yes I know tomorrow morning may be another story, but I guess whilst lying there waiting for the oblivion that is anesthesia, I will be getting nervous, especially when that heart rate monitor starts getting exited! But I will know that that is what is normal and expected of the situation. So, bring it on Doc.

All will be cool till I awake to the pain that I will allow to be. I fully intend just to accept whatever pains are coming my way. Surrender to them, and accept them. And just to relax into the healing process. I shall take everything day by day. Every bout of pain and or discomfort will be faced with a deep ingrained wisdom within me that everything passes with time. It will all be over and go away soon, as long as I allow it to. To manifest and pass it's way through me.

These 21 days have flown as you guys have pointed out. And so too I'm sure will the next 21 days. And I know by then I'll be in the place of a thousand smiles. Knowing that I did the right things and feeling better and stronger than I could have hoped or wished for. (darn, I wish those 3 weeks were over already!) But they're not, and I know I do HAVE to do this. So if not now, then when? And then I'll be hoping I had gone through it all already.

So tomorrow I'll begin my going through it all, and it will all be over soon!

I'll be letting you all know very soon how it all went and how I'm feeling.

Lol - Heading off to the hospital in an hours time.

Rainbows and sunshine.....

Okay, by now you're wrapped and resting somewhat comfortable in the hospital bed. You won't get too much sleep tonight thanks to the nurse checking on you several times. Mine seemed in and out every hour with a thermometer, blood pressure cup, or needle. Yikes!

So nap when you can and we'll hear from you when you feel up to it.

i just want to wish you all the luck.im sure everything went great.im counting my days down.6 days before mine.,cant wait for the tips.im sur ei will need them.

Welcome to the Wrapped Club!

 

Glad to hear that everything went well!  Once you get your "sea legs" and can walk around without being woozy, it would be good if you could do some walking.  It'll help get rid of the gas they pumped into your abdomen and help keep that shoulder pain at bay. 

Just take a walk around the hospital halls whenever you get up to go to the bathroom.  When you're home, walk around your house, on a treadmill, outside, wherever...just walk!  It'll help you get your strength back, and help the shoulder pain.  It's not exactly the same with everyone, but I found that the more I walked the less my shoulder hurt.  It's also just good for you.

Now that the surgery is behind you and you're one of the WRAPPED, you can look forward to healing and a better quality of life.  There will be some bumps in that road, but there were bumps in the old road that was going nowhere.  The new road you're on is headed toward a healthier and more comfortable life-town!

Yes there will be good & bad days but having a positive attitude is 90% of the healing so Im sure you are will continue to do well.

Hey Guys...

Today and Yesterday I have felt quite weak! Thought I should be doing better as it hasn't been bad till now.

How do you guys feel, or felt a week after the surgery?

I just feel like lying down under the blanket all day!

I do get up and do some stuff, bath, cook, walk around, a very little bit, but it seems harder these past two days? Is it normal, or should I be checking back with the Doc. He took out the staples yesterday, and I told him everything is going great. Then I got driven home about 200 kilometers. Was it just a sapping experience? I hope it goes better tomorrow, otherwise I think I'll start panicking.

And another question. I thought I started feeling a bit nauseas after the trip. I take motilium. Does that stuff really make a difference? Well, I didn't throw up - so.... But does it? Any experience?

So that's a week ago now. Really hoping tomorrow goes better. It hasn't been awfull, but it just has that sort of somethings not right feeling. And I get weak quicker. But like I said, yesterday I had to do a lot of missions. Maybe it was just very harsh on me!?!?

Getting a little more solid. ie, more things like noodles, scrambled eggs etc. They are fine going in. Do you you think it could be after reaction? I don't think so, just asking.

Good to hear you are feeling fairly well just a week post-op. I just got back from a very long vacation trip, 1000 miles 1 way.. we stopped over and split the trip both ways. It was rather hard on me and I am 5 1/2 months post-op. We were gone for 13 days and I can tell you it wore me out. So a long trip at 1 week would have a tendency to wear you out no matter how good you feel.

I have a RX for Phenergan tablets that I carry with me always. I have only had to use them a couple of times and they have worked well.

You are still in early days yet, there will be times that you are tired. Don't try to much at a time.. some foods may not agree and you will be able to sort them out if you introduce 1 or 2 things at a time in new foods. I had pasta and alfredo sauce rather than a tomato based sauce because of the acid in the tomatoes. Just listen to your body and if it says no.. listen to it..
