Hi Joy,

I assume your classroom is air conditioned.  At least that's a positive. When I was teaching I had to either keep the windows open and be sick from allergies, or close them and roast to death.  I chose roasting, so we had lots of fans.  Parents felt sorry for my kids, shut up in our classroom during allergy season!  Our house is air conditioned, so I can cut my exposure way down.  Our other house wasn't, and it wasn't fun keeping the windows shut when it was hot.  I just hope that when I'm finally built up to full strength with my new shot serum that I do better. I'm sure you're as sick of allergies as I am!

Hope things are going well in your classroom.  I spent the day in my son's room today.  I tested some kids, and made him posters of lists he'd generated with his class--Good Writers (what they do) and the Class Promise (rules).  I like making charts, so it was enjoyable.  It seems like his class will be easier this year.  At least he's having a honeymoon for the time being!

So sorry you're not feeling well!  I hope you get feeling more comfortable soon.  I think stomach bugs are the worst.  Do you think it was something you caught from the kids, or something you ate?  Guessing game, I guess!

Aw shucks,  that sucks to get sick first thing this morning.  I am glad you were able to go home and rest.  When I was working as a school nurse I had some children that would need Allbuterol Nebulizer Treatments and many on the inhalers which I had on a regular schedule anytime their pulmonary system was compromised. Even in the middle school the kids would have to come to the nurse's office for their inhaler before/after gym class.

I also had young kids on diabetic pumps..................with all the new meds and technology the schools need a nurse now days.  Also the nurses depend on the teachers to be their eyes and ears in the classrooms.  Good for you for helping the children.

It really sounds like your wrap is a little too tight.  Still at not quite three months things aren't totally back to normal.  You've still got time to be within the realm of normal.  That said, by now you should be able to handle regular food that can be chewed to a liquid. 

If things don't improve within the next month or so, it sounds like it's time to visit your surgeon again.  Just keep working on small bites and chew, chew, chew. Have you tried helping things through with some warm tea or water?  If things don't normalize, you may need to get your wrap dilated to loosen it a bit.  Hopefully it won't come to that, but others here have had to resort to dilation before being able to eat normally.

Here's hoping that things start working better soon!

I am sorry to hear you are having problems and remember to give yourself permission to vent away and not just a wee bit but go gigantic if it makes you feel better.  We are here to listen and to validate your feelings of frustration.

Yes it takes lots of patience but from my own life experiences I understand how difficult it can be to remain patient.

I am glad to read you have talked with your Dr. and some lab work has been ordered. Also talking with a dietician is a good thing.  My hubby uses Ensure supplement drinks daily.  He has Crohn's and is underweight due to short bowel syndrome. I understand how hard it is to try to maintain a healthy weight from working with him. 

Keep on moving forward and remember you have so many caring friends here and we are cheering you on.

I'm glad you had a chance to spend time with your kids and grandkids!  It sounds like you had a wonderful time, and have some cherished memories of your visit.  Your little ballerina granddaughter sounds precious!  I hope your recovery is progressing and you're feeling well.

Thank you so much for sharing such good advice and positive support with others who have joined the forum.  We both know how much it means to someone who's facing surgery or recovering from it.  You are a blessing to this forum, and your rainbows brighten many a day!

When I read about all the work you were doing on your mowers and trucks and what-have-you, I wanted to come right over to your house and march you back to the couch!  You've been through a lot, my friend!  Stop overdoing it!  Just rest, relax, heal, and get yourself better!  TAKE IT EASY! Hi all-
Kitt- Glad you have a new "hobby", and it's a good one. Hope this week is a better one for you.

Denise- I am behaving now. Thanks for the scolding, I sometimes turn into a "do as I say, not as I do" person easily when there is work to be done. That's actually what killed my father, wouldn't stop working even with the obvious signs of a heart attack. Guess the apple really doesn't fall to far from the tree.

I am having the strangest food issues. I can eat meatloaf, macaroni salad, potato salad, roast beef, buns, corn bread, fish, deer steaks, chicken, etc. But I have issues with applesauce, pudding, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, toast, even cereal. Almost the complete opposite of what I could eat the last 2 times. Weird.

Howdy all
We have had rain the last few days and it sure came at the wrong time. It got hot and dry when the crops needed the rain the most. Would have had a great corn crop here if we wouldn't have had such hot days and no rain. Seems like the rain was turned off like a faucet. All spring it was cool and rainy then all of a sudden hot and dry. Now that they are starting to harvest it's raining again! Not the greatest conditions for harvesting.

I sure do enjoy the cooler weather though. Nice to be able to keep the windows open. The cooler temps and rain has kick started the grass here again. Was only mowing about every 3 weeks and now it looks like I am going to have to mow every week again. Imagine the snow will start flying before too long the way this year's crazy seasons have gone. Probably mow one day and have to put the plow on the next.LOL!

Kitt- Did you get your hubby to the doctor today? Praying it's nothing serious and he doesn't need to go into the hospital. I believe I have spent enough time in the hospital this year for all of us. My pain doctor still wants me to do the SCS trial in a month. If it works she said they could get me the surgery for a permanent SCS put in with in another month or so. I have had 3 surgeries already this year and not sure I want another one this year. Especially since I will be very restricted in what I do until it is healed and stays in place. From what the DVD they gave me to watch. you aren't supposed to lift your arms above shoulder height and have to sleep on your back for several weeks.

Janice- I hope you are still lurking about here. And hope things have gotten better for you. You sure do deserve to be healed and feeling better. When I catch myself starting to whiny or angry I think of what all you my dear friend have been through. You are my inspiration and hero.

Denise- You have been doing an awesome job, along with Joy, helping the newbies and making everyone feel welcome here. Thank you both for filling in while Kitt and I have been scarce here.

Joy- hope you are feeling better.I know this time of year is very hard on you and Denise with all the new pollens to deal with. I was happy to hear you got the filters on the lights. I was worried they would make a big fuss and try not to fix the light situation for you. Keep young minds active and willing to learn. I have the greatest respect for all teachers, especially those in the lower grades. You are the ones who start to mold the young minds and hopefully teach them to always want to learn more.

Sandi- Hoping you are still doing well. I want to thank you also for jumping in with both feet here welcoming the newbies and offering any advice you can.

I thank you for your kind words, I truly enjoy sharing my triumphs and small set backs. Everyone who has this surgery or one like it, needs to hear it all, not just the good times. I would have been so frightened if I had received only good outlook reports from this forum and then I went on to have some of the small issues I have had. I would have wondered if something was really wrong . I thank everyone here for sharing 'this is how it is and may be for you'.

I would love to be able to open the windows and let the fresh air in.. here in South Central Florida where I am, we feel fortunate if we can do that a few days a year. Wherever those days come, I throw the windows open and air the house out.

I do hope you are doing well and paying attention to your docs. How is your wife feeling?? I hope she is doing well and continues in that direction.

My ballerina is about to turn 3 on October 8. She insists that Cinderella is coming to her birthday party.. Mamaw and Papaw sent her tickets to go see Disney on Ice so she will get to see Cinderella on her birthday. We are such suckers for those big blue eyes..

I am sorry to hear you have been under the weather recently.. I am sure that the many issues you have to deal with can drain you. Your young students are very lucky to have someone as dedicated as you, as their guide into the future. I will send healing prayers your way and I hope this finds you feeling a bit better.
