Hi everyone,
Im new to this forum and I was just wondering if anyone knows the criteria for nissens vs. TIF surgery? I found a surgeon, he seems experienced, but he never even mentioned the TIF. It seems to me that it is less invasive and Id like to know which one I should go with out of the 2 surgeries. I have pretty severe acid reflux for about 5 months now. It started with just a sore throat and bitter breath. I could feel the stinging in my breath. My stomach is very sore I thonk it might be inflamed. I had a scope done in may and to be honest ever since the day they stuck that scope down my throat I have been having the worst reflux. Fluid just comes back even when I drink water. I dont eat at least 5 hours before bedtime, yet I wake up with the sour taste and burning gums every morning. I think my teeth are starting to weat off because of this. It is ruining my life. Any help?

 

Hi Joy, thanks for replying! I did have the manometry done and it seems to be fine according to the doctor. I hope he is right, because I wake up in the morning nauseated and feeling like I just ate my dinner. I have no idea what is going on with me. The peculiar part is, that I had no issues with this hernia for ten years. My stomach started aching in May, I went to the GI doc., she did the endoscopy and from that day on the backflow of acid has been relentless. It is getting worse instead of better. When I take the PPI it feels like it is this dry and bitter and gooey gunk develops in my throat and my tongue is all white. Its gross. I just want to kill myself every morning when I wake up with this acid bath in my mouth.
