Hi Nancee,
I'm sorry you're so miserable. I had acid reflux a year ago and my chest hurt so bad I thought I was having a heart attack. Ended up in the hospital. Took Protonik, and it helped a lot over time. Some medicines have horrible side effects. If Protonik worked for you, you may be safer going back to it. Certain foods can make acid reflux worse: caffeine, peppermint, very spicy foods, and fried foods. (Mayo Clinic has a complete list of foods to avoid) Peppermint and anti-inflammatories are notorius for causing & making acid reflux worse. Avoid both of them! Also, eat dinner early--at least 3 hours before you lay down at night.
As for stomach gas, try to think back to when it started and what had changed--medicine, diet, etc. Some foods can cause horrible gas if you're allergic (broccoli makes me swell up like a balloon). Raw foods, while nutritious, can cause gas if you're not used to them. You can take digestive enzymes like Beano (find it at your local drug store) before you take your first bite of food. It works great. There are other digestive enzymes you can take, but consult a nutritionist. Lastly, wear loose-fitting clothes and go for a brisk walk. It can help.
Be really careful with colon cleansing, etc. Only do it under doctor supervision, or your health problems can get extremely complicated. I know this first-hand. Hope you feel better.
