No, I haven't .. however I am trying to substitute the anti-anxiety meds that my psychiatrists prescribe me with natural stuff (as all those benzos / ssris etc. give me side effects) ... plus, anything that can help reduce the transient LES relaxations ... which is how I came across L-theanine and when I googled L-theanine and reflux .. I came across that patent application ...
anyway.. I just started L-theanine and it seemed to help me somewhat .. but it is too early to tell .. things are quite random with this reflux condition ..

yes...random is exactly the word that hits me over the head time and time again as i try to connect cause and effect looking for triggers and remedies with this gerd thing
btw...looking for otc anti anxiety alternatives..i found passion flower, specifically passiflora incarnata to be very effective at calming down the roller coaster ride feelings.
there is ongoing debate about
the method of action of passion flower and it may be that it is a kind of natural benzo (gaba agonist) so it may not be helpful if one is trying to taper off benzos (switching one benzo to another)
passion flower potentiates benzos so not advised to take together unless for some crazy reason one wanted to get synergy
there is a great article in wikipedia that discusses all of this and more
as i struggle with anxiety and depression, exercise has become one of the most important tools in the box
hang in there...life aint easy...by a long shot

Hey Mock -
I've been taking L-Theanine alone for panic / anxiety etc now for over a week. I was meant to start antidepressants as perscribed by the Doc. I was getting to that very desperate stage as I was panicking bad again regularly. Started on the L-Thenanine, and am in such a better place. Did it work for your anxiety? I swear people must try it. I posted on the Anxiety Forum - but noone seems interested. Oh well. It has saved me from the antidepressant journey, so I am happy about
that. Now it's work on the mind stage and I'm sure I am over the bad.
Cant wait to exercise again properly. Had a Nissen Op a month ago, so still in the taking it easy phase. The recovery and feeling week is what brought on the panic again I guess. But now I'm happy about
the op, my health, and all. Just want to start jogging again. And yoga. Wonderful relaxation tool.
Let me know.

That's great Darryl that L-theanine is helping you! I started 200mg/night and I do feel calmer I think - which does make a positive impact on the reflux.
How much are you taking and at what time do you take it? .. and which brand? Thanks.

PPI -
Taking Solgar, 150mg. I take one in the morning, and if having a bad day, another one sometime in the late afternoon early evening. But they are supposed to be good for helping sleep, so not a bad idea to take at night. I know I have way more vivid dreams if I take late in the evening.
Yeah, I'm sure a lot of reflux is stress related. But I'm not sure L-T helped me before the op with the reflux but then I just had so much.
