Is there anyone out there who has had good results from a second fundiplication???  Seeing surgeon in november as mine not working properly, but did work well for four years, until this january where im sure i over did it with sit ups in a bid to get fit oh the irony mad   Please help me im at the end mad

Welcome to Healing Well.

I am recovering from 2nd redo. My first redo was perfect and until I had an esophageal tear I would still be doing great with the first redo. In order to repair my esophagus the things that had to be done destroyed my redo. I had it redone again on 8/24. My redo was almost 2 years old and was functioning great.

Do you know if your surgeon has much experience with redos? I found the redo recovery to be the same as the first nissen, except I already knew what to expect since I had already been through the recovery.

Thanks Bill, im from the uk and its difficult to find out about surgeons over here, i do know that my surgeon has dealt with alot of problems in this area including oesophageal cancer etc. I will be seeing him in november so will ask how many redos he has done. Thanks again Spanna x

I will have to have one next month. Mine slipped, so I guess it was too loose. I am trying another Dr. I can eat anything now, as long as I take Prilosec, but I burp up foor constantly.

Wishing you well, and me too. I thought it was a mere day surgery, and didn't know about all the inside healing going on. Wonder what this dr. will say about that.

Good luck with your redo, i dont burp up food but get terrible heartburn and feel so sore down there. Please let me know how you get on, how long did your first wrap last??

I'm looking at my 4th nissen. The first 3 were done by the same surgeon, he said it was too loose so he kept tightening it. Now I see a specialist and I guess my wrap is in really bad shape. He said he will probably have to do a complete take down and redo. The recovery was the same with them all. Good luck!!

Hi Spanna,

How are you getting on?  I just saw your note and the date, so figured you mught be closer to a conclusion.  I am in a similar boat to you, though not sure my wrap was that great to start with, though I think I did make things worse through exercise.  I am looking at a redo later this year, also in the UK.  Where are you based and who was your surgeon?
