Hi All,
Me again. OK, so I do believe that the reflux is back. This a week before my two month mark! Unreal. And very Uncool.
So here's the thing. You guys all know so much collectively I'm asking here before I return to my surgeon.
My throat is dry the past few days. Today my voice has become extremely hoarse and sore again. And I can definately feel there's something "there". You can feel it in the burps etc. It's not as bad as before the surgery. I haven't choked awake at night yet. I haven't had the need to vommit yet. But I feel that it wont be long before those start happening again!
So I am so not happy about all this. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any amount of positive thinking is going to change things. Right>???
The reason I had the surgery is because I am allergic to PPI's. I am so not overweight, and I am healthy, do not drink or eat any of the "bad" stuff. Just did not have any form of LES to keep the reflux at bay. So what now? Do I have to consider round number two with the knife? I had / have very bad esophogitis, probably early stage Barret's.
For those with experience, can you have this surgery within months of each other? How long? And also, is it as bad, better, or worse than the first time around. The only thing I really struggled with after my first was low blood pressure and the resulting weakness. That caused some anxiety, but otherwise, like a lot of you have said, I would do it all again if it meant being rid of the problems of GERD. Well, so would I. So I guess I have to consider the possibility of a redo.
Wow. I guess one knows their own body better than anyone. i haven't been back to the Doc, but, I don;t know, I just feel that it's lurking in there again. Silentely - the LPR version that does max damage to the throat before you know it.
So, how long should I leave between ops. And, do you think it's a bit easier knowing what you've been through before. Or harder because the body is weaker? Or what?
I'm hoping I don't have to walk that route agian. I'm hoping something small is the cause, that it's just a little seepage compared to before. And that I can tolerate it. Do you think Gaviscon would help keep it down? So yeah, so hoping that if I do go visit Doc soon again, he'll confirm it's not much and that something can be done.
Otherwise, hope some of you out there are at least doing better. It does so feel great not having reflux!!!! Even though I think my awesome experience thereof was slightly short lived.
Have a good one all.
Darryl
