Hi Liz,The list of foods that were provided to Dave are for during the recovery stage. While the wrap is healing, there can be swelling, and it is very possible that a bit of acid could escape. Having a few bouts of reflux is not out of the ordinary during the recovery process. In fact, many surgeons keep their patients on PPIs until healing is well on its way.
Also, there are certain triggers that people who've been wrapped might have. Joy, a member here, seems to have trouble with barbeque potato chips for some reason. Everyone is different.
I had my surgery in February 2009, and I really eat absolutely anything. I do stipulate that I have a very reactive stomach, and that can get me into trouble. For that reason, I avoid coffee most of the time, although if I'm having a special dessert, or breakfast at a nice restaurant, I'll drink a cup or two. Otherwise I stick with tea. That's not wrap related...just my crazy stomach.
Still, those of us with very sensitive GI tracts may always have problems with some foods. It's an individual issue. Still, if someone is suffering from severe reflux, they'll find tremendous relief after surgery.
Take care,
Denise
