Don't worry...you'll do just fine.  I'm assuming you're planning on making fruit smoothies with the frozen fruits.  I would just caution you that iced beverages can cause esophageal spasms during the early weeks.  Room temp beverages are better.  If you make the smoothies, give them a chance to warm up a bit before drinking them.

Be sure you have anti-nausea drugs on hand, as well as liquid Tylenol or something like it.  Gas-X can be very helpful as well.  You should also have some liquid antacid to coat your stomach and wrap should they become irritated.

I just want to say good luck to your op.

I had also that paraesophageal hernia repair and everything went sooo well in the hospital and I had a very easy recovery time. Hoping, this will encourage you a little bit just before your op.

My surgery took 2 hour...

Iwas in the hospital for 2 days...

and my sickleave was 2 weeks.

I was also scaring of all the possible complications after the op. Strange, I didn't get any of them. No swallowing problems, no shoulder or stomach pain...

At home, make a cosy bed with pillows, where you can enjoy the first days after the op. It was fine to notice every day I felt better and there was no after-complications at all. One good advice for me was that "walk-walk-walk...". I really walked every day. That helped a lot the extra-gas to go out. The hospital crew and your surgeon will give you lot a good advices. Trust them! Also listen to your body, you know it best, when you are ready to take next step from the liquid diet to the soft food-diet.

OK...breathe...sit ...try to focus on one thing at a time...in the here and now...breathe. It is normal to feal anxious pre-op but know you are as ready as you ever will be and remember by tomorrow evening at this time your surgery will be history and you will be on the road to recovery.
